Escape From Monster Island (The Powerpuff Girls, 2016) is the first episode in the first season of The Powerpuff Girls reboot.

Plot

The Mayor needs rescuing from Monster Island; meanwhile, Blossom and Buttercup fight over who gets to attend a concert with Bubbles.

Why It Doesn't Escape from this Episode

  1. First of all, this was not a good start of 2016 Powerpuff Girls reboot, meaning that most of the flaws here are present.
  2. The Mayor is somehow dumb in this episode, as he doesn't know how to fly a plane.
  3. Unfunny humor, such as when Blossom and Buttercup called each other "Buttzilla".
  4. Plot Hole: The girls basically beat up an eagle for no reason to get Buttercup, when they could have just grabbed her without violence.
  5. Some dated references here, such as Blossom and Buttercup rapping for a bit, Buttercup jinxing Blossom and the girls' eyes becoming tiny for a second.
  6. Why would monsters attack the island for pickles, anyway?
  7. Bad Ending: Although Blossom and Buttercup apologized, Bubbles only took Frederick to the concert, while Blossom and Buttercup are left at home, sad.
  8. The Powerpuff Girls are very unlikable in this episode, as Blossom & Buttercup keep fighting over a ticket to the Sensitive Thugs concert, and Bubbles keeps acting all bossy to her sisters.
  9. The Narrator is not present in this episode. Not only that, but it will also confuse people who haven't watched the original Powerpuff Girls.
  10. The Sensitive Thugs are generic looking characters for this episode, and don't really fit well in the Powerpuff Girls universe.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. The Mayor is the only one here to still have his personality from the original show.
  2. There was a bit of fighting when Buttercup attacks the lava monster.
  3. The Mayor & Fredrick are decent or tolerable characters.
