Father Knows Least is the third part of the sixth episode in the fourth season of Dexter's Laboratory.

Plot

Dexter's father watches the kids while his wife visits her sister. However, he tends to mess up the chores thanks to his stupidity.

Why It Knows the Least

1. The episode is nothing but a 7-minute filler episode where Dad babysits Dexter and Dee Dee while Mom is visiting a friend of hers, and nothing else.
2. Dad is at his absolute worst in terms of his stupidity, as he doesn't even bother to do what his wife does:
   • He never makes breakfast for Dexter and Dee Dee and gives them money for school lunch (admittedly, the kids already ate breakfast before the episode begins) instead
   • He puts dishes that were already clean into the dishwasher along with the soap
   • He puts Dee Dee's dress and Dexter's lab coat together
   • He smashes the prized possessions when dusting
   • He is even rude to the mailman
   • He also calls the maid to clean the room, only to give her money and get out.
     • After getting called out by his wife, Dexter, and Dee Dee, he cannot take criticism and gives him an "Out of Order" sign on his collar.
3. Dexter and Dee Dee, while likable, never seem to help Dad with the chores. However, it makes sense since they went out to school.
4. Plot Hole:
   • If Dad was having trouble with the chores, why couldn't he just ring Mom instead of presuming?
   • Dad could have not called the maid when he, Dexter, and Dee Dee already cleaned the house.
5. Stupid Ending: Although Dad feels remorse for making a huge mess, when Mom comes home, we find out that he hired a maid just to clean the house - proving how clueless he has become.

Qualities That Know the Most

1. Dexter, Dee Dee, and their Mom are likable characters in this episode.
2. Admittedly, Dad cannot do the chores properly because he is stupid, but it does not excuse his actions.
3. Despite the stupid ending, at least he gets his comeuppance from his wife, Dexter, and Dee Dee after calling the maid to clean the house.

Trivia

1. The episode title is a reference to the saying "Father knows best".
2. At the end of the episode, Dad says, "Good night, folks." is a reference to "That's All Folks!" in the Looney Tunes franchise.
