Final Destination 3 is a 2006 supernatural horror film directed by James Wong. It was Distributed by New Line Cinema. The film stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Ryan Merriman.

Plot

In 2005, six years after a group of high-school students first cheated death, another teen (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) has a premonition that she and her friends will be involved in a horrifying roller-coaster accident. When the vision proves true, the student and her fellow survivors must deal with the repercussions of cheating the Grim Reaper.

Why It's Anything But the Death of You

  1. It's a nice addition to the Final Destination series and it's considered the improvement of the first two films.
  2. The acting is a step up from the first two films, especially Mary Elizabeth Winstead's amazing performance.
  3. The death scenes are very creative, especially the tanning room scene, which is one of the scariest scenes in the whole film.
  4. The idea of having a roller-coaster disaster is pretty terrifying.
  5. Awesome soundtrack, that is almost full of suspense that was performed by Shirley Walker, just like he did on the first two films.
  6. The writing is pretty decent and it did way better than the first two films.
  7. The storyline is way better than the first two, which is well done.
  8. Likable characters, especially Wendy and Kevin.
  9. The ending is pretty horrifying, where the Subway train crashed at the end of the film.

Bad Qualities

  1. It still suffers from being formulaic and predictable and doesn't bring anything new to the series.
  2. Some of the characters aren't that great. Frankie and Lewis are extremely unlikable, Erin is underutilized, and Perry is barely a character.

Reception

Despite it getting a 43% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 41/100 on Metacritic (Mixed or average reviews) with a 6.1/10 user score rating, many fans agree this to be the best of the Final Destination series.

Trivia

  • It's the final film to be performed by Shirley Walker before her death on November 30, 2006.
