Final Fight 3, released in Japan as Final Fight Tough (Japanese: '"ファイナルファイト タフ, Hepburn: Fainaru Faito Tafu), is a side-scrolling beat 'em up by Capcom originally released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1995. It is the second sequel to Final Fight released for the Super NES, following Final Fight 2, and like its predecessor, it was produced by Capcom's consumer division with no preceding arcade version released.

Plot

Following the annihilation of the Mad Gear Gang, a new criminal group named the Skull Cross Gang emerges as the new dominant criminal organization in Metro City. When Guy returns to Metro City from his martial arts training and reunites with his old friend Mike Haggar, the Mayor of Metro City, the two are suddenly alerted that the Skull Cross Gang has started a riot in the downtown area of the city. Joined by Lucia, a detective in the Metro City Police's Special Crimes Unit, and Dean, a street fighter whose family was murdered by the Skull Cross Gang, Guy and Haggar must once again save Metro City from its newest menace.

Why It Rocks

  1. This game is a major improvement over the previous games because here it play even faster and the game is way faster than the second game, also it even add things or mechanics that are not present in the previous games.
  2. Tight and responsive controls, being much better now because they are faster and are way more fluid.
  3. You can now run, which is great since it make the game much faster and fun to play, and it can even lead to some awesome combos for beating the enemies.
  4. The gameplay is as fun as ever because not only does you can now run but now you had combos which are great to use and they are very satistying to pull off, in fact every characters had different combos.
    • Also, each characters has their own fighting style and attributes. Lucia is the weakest but has faster attacks, Haggar is the strongest but also the slowest, with Guy and Dean being more balanced - Guy slightly faster but weaker than Dean.
  5. Excellent graphics, while they aren't as impressive as Final Fight 2, they look even better than the first game because the sprites are just as awesome and the backgrounds are very detailled for their time, also the color palette is much more colorful.
  6. The story is once again very interesting and is also much darker than the previous games, albeit not as much as Streetwise.
  7. Awesome bosses as usual, since they are very challenging and are even harder than the previous games in a good way (with the exception of the Arcade version of the first game), the final boss in particular is great and epic.
  8. It had different paths to choose, something not present in the previous games, in which this system is very well done and make up for a decent amount of replay values, not to mention that those extra paths are just as fun as the other regular ones.
  9. Great soundtrack, being just as good as the previous games, if not even better than in the second game.
  10. It was overall a good way to end the trilogy and could have been a good say to end the franchise if it didn't continue past that.

Bad Qualities

  1. Despite having some challenging bosses, the game is much easier than the previous games since there's a lot of continues and because of the broken combos system, you can easily dodge a death, howewer the game still isn't too easy to the point that it can be considered a truly easy beat em up game.
    • Haggar is one of the perfect exemple of a overpowered character, he is indeed slow but very powerful and it is easier to play with him to not die.
    • Guy is also extremely overpowered, as while he isn't as strong as Haggar, he still strong enough and way faster which can cause the game to be very easy at times.
  2. The bosses can sometime be way too hard and frustrating, one exemple could include the final boss which can kill you in not too many hits.
  3. Despite not having stages as long as in the second game, it can still had long stages that take forever.

Reception

Final Fight 3 received positive reviews by critics and gamers and is considered to be the best game of the series, it had a score of 3.93 on Gamefaqs[1]
