Inspector Gadget: Mad Time Party is a party game released in 2023, it's the first Inspector Gadget game released by Microids as well.
Plot
MAD has taken over Metro City, to which Professor Von Slickstein creates a time machine to prevent this from happening, however Gadget accidentally destroyed it and inadvertently summoned his ancestors from different eras in time. In order to fix this, Inspector Gadget and his ancestors compete in challenges to collect parts to repair the time machine, capture disguised MAD agents, and save Metro City from the rule of Dr. Claw.
Why It's Mad
- Poor graphics that look like a game from the Nintendo 64 or, even worse, a PS1 game; even Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Battle Nexus, which was released in 2004, almost two decade before this game, looks better than this, and it's on PS2, GameCube, and Xbox (not counting the GBA version).
- The color choices are very washed, even in the PC version, and look like they came from SpongeBob: ROTFD which was released in 2002.
- The character models also look blocky for a 2023 game and look like they came from a late Nintendo 64 game.
- The game is very short, lasting only 1h30m to 2 hours, which is unacceptable for a game released in 2023; games such as Pac-Man World Re-Pac are longer and were released in 2022.
- The game is based off the 2015 reboot series instead of the original 80s series.
- The exploration system feels like a poor man. GTA clone, the mini games also fell like a poor man Mario Party game as well; it's so bad that it's making the game very boring, and ironically, the mini games also feel like a poor man Garfield: Lasagna Party, despite being made by the same team.
- Poor controls; the jump is very floaty too.
- Due to how lacking this game is, it feels more like a demo or even a prototype than a full game.
- This game may well be considered the shortest game by Microids due to how short it is.
- The soundtrack, like a lot of games made by Microids, is bland and doesn't really fit the game at all; the game doesn't even feel like an Inspector Gadget game due to WIM #3.
- Again, like other games made by Microids, the game is overpriced and costs 40 dollars, which is way too much for a low-quality game like this. You can also buy a higher-quality game that is cheaper.
- It's also very unacceptable considering the horribly short length of the game.
- Poor map system that is much worse than GTA due to the fact that it's a bit confusing.
- Poor character animation, and when the running animation of Gadget is very arkward, it's possibly the worst offender.
- It's also a missed opportunity to make a great game that could have been better if it weren't for the abysmal execution (see RQ#1).
- Terrible voice acting that sounds nothing like the 2015 series; Gadget is possibly the worst offender; it's so bad that even Mega Man X4 dubbing is better.
- Overral, like most games made by Microids, is just a cash grab for making money out of the children's, and it's again an excuse that it's made for kids, and due to that, the other Inspector Gadget games made on GBA and SNES are better than this game.
Redemming Qualities
- The concept itself is pretty decent, but unfortunately this game got an abysmal execution. If the game had had a good execution, then it'd have been a lot better and been a pretty fun game.
- At least the game is relatively faithful to the 2015 animated series (which isn't any better).
- The title screen look decent and look better than the entire game.
