Iron Man also known as Iron Man: The Animated Series, is an American animated series based on the Marvel character of the same name. This page will only focus on the vastly superior second season of the show.

Why This Season Is Armored Up

  1. It was the first animated Iron Man adaptation to be faithful to the source material.
  2. Likable heroes such as Iron Man, War Machine, Spider-Woman, Hawkeye and H.O.M.E.R.
  3. Incredible entertaining villains such as Mandarin, Justin Hammer, Dark Aegis, Madame Masque, A.I.M. and Fin Fang Foom.
  4. Fantastic theme songs in both the original US version and the Japanese dub.
    • The music used in this season is pretty cool and much better than what the first season had.
  5. It had crossovers with Spider-Man: The Animated Series and The Incredible Hulk.
  6. Ghost, Beatle and Stringray make cameo appearances in one episode.
  7. It successfully adapts several storylines from the comics such as "Dragon Seed", "Armor Wars" and "The Hands of the Mandarin".
  8. It had darker and more complex storylines that dealt with duplicity, consequence and phobias.
  9. Amazing action scenes.
  10. The character designs and animation are lifted straight from the comic books.
  11. Great sound editing that was done by THX.

Bad Qualities

  1. The plot can get pretty dark at times. There were a few on-screen deaths, such as Arthur Dearborn (Sunturion) emitting a deadly radiation pulse that kills a group of scientists and Crimson Dynamo's suicide attack on a Russian city.
  2. Marvel Entertainment Group, Genesis Entertainment, & New World Entertainment sadly didn't renew the show for a third season due to disappointing ratings.
  3. Some people didn't know that this season existed because they stopped watching the show after seeing the mediocre first season.

Trivia

  • Matt Frewer voiced the Leader in this series and would continue to voice him on UPN's The Incredible Hulk animated series, later in 1996. In an online interview, voice director Tom Tataranowicz said "the casting of the Leader's voice was a satisfying find".
