Iron Man is a 1994 animated series based on the Marvel character of the same name. This page will only focus on the critically panned first season of the show.
UnIron Qualities
- Not so great and completely choppy animation that is very substandard thanks to Rainbow Animation Group who are known for cheaply produced shows.
- One example includes the villain, Mandarin looking like a green alien elf man.
- To add insult to injury, it also uses poorly rendered CGI for the Iron Man transformation sequences.
- The Masters of the Universe-style formula of "good against evil" would have been passable for the 80's, rather than the 90's.
- Tacky and campy dialogue that is unintentionally funny.
- Mediocre voice acting which sounds cheesy and hammy as they keep whispering.
- The attempts at humor try to be funny, but fall flat.
- Awful writing that doesn't bother adapting any of the comic books.
- The music used in this season is repetitive and generic.
- Lack of character development and personal conflicts.
- Quite large amount of plot holes.
Iron Qualities
- The character designs are at least good.
- There are some likable characters.
- Even the music is repetitive and generic, it's at least can be catchy.
- The show's second season has a huge improvement over this season.
- There are a few people who might like this season despite its flaws.
Reception
TBA
Trivia
- The show was paired with the Fantastic Four 90s show in a package known as the Marvel Action Hour.
- Starting with the second season, Marvel Productions switched animation houses and the series got a new look, feel, and direction. While Fantastic Four: The Animated Series (1994) was revamped with John Buscema in mind, the crew did not have another particular artist in mind for "Iron Man". They went for a more graphic and streamlined approach to the series.
