Plot
A fish named Isabel "Izzie" dreams of going out into the ocean because of how often she is bullied by the other fish in the aquarium she stays in, however her father Harold is concerned about how dangerous the ocean is. Later, she gets separated from her family after the boat that holds the aquarium topples over into the water following a volcanic eruption.
Why It Couldn't Find Its Way Home
- For starters, the film is an obvious rip-off/mockbuster of Finding Nemo and it's sequel.
- The story is poorly written, especially since it's rushed, something you would expect from a mockbuster.
- Some characters are unlikeable, especially the fish that act like rude teenagers you're probably tired of.
- Poor attempts at humor. While creative, the scene where Jimmy the octopus ejects his thing out, like what his species does, like he's farting is dull.
- The antagonist gets away with trying to kill the main cast and is forgiven like it's nothing.
- As expected from a good number of animated films by The Asylum, the animation is hideous and plain awful.
- The lip-syncing is very poor.
Redeeming Qualities
- The voice acting is decent, even from actors like Tori Spelling and Lynne Marie Stewart.
- Although the scene mentioned in WICFIWH#4 had a poor attempt at humor, it was rather creative.
- Some characters are likeable, like Izzie and her father Harold.
Reception
It has an extremely low score of 1.6/10 on IMDb and a rating of 42% on the Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes based on fewer than 50 ratings. However, the film was considered by CG Animated Review that "while the film wasn't great, it was better than expected, and a good effort for the Asylum's first animated film". On Common Sense Media, Andrea Beach rated the film 1/5 stars, with her saying that the film is a "low-budget sea adventure" that's boring and lifeless.
