The Asylum is an American independent film company/studio that is well known for making the Sharknado series. This company is mainly known for its infamous cheap direct-to-DVD mockbusters of films made by more well-known studios such as Disney, 20th Century Fox, Universal, Warner Bros., Paramount, Sony Pictures, etc.

Why Their Movies Should Be Sent To The Asylum

1. Their main priority is making rip-offs/mockbusters of well-known films, for example, The Da Vinci Treasure is a mockbuster of The Da Vinci Code.
2. Really bad acting in most of their movies.
3. Their mockbusters aren't well-researched. As a result, they get several things wrong about the source material.
4. Quantity over quality: So far, they've made a whooping 110 movies, with most of them being mockbusters.
5. On top of that, the titles aren't even consistent with what it's ripping off. Transmorphers is actually a Terminator knockoff, and The Terminators has a lot more in common with Battlestar Galactica than any of the Terminator movies.
6. Terrible CGI effects and green screen.
7. Lackluster sets.
8. Incredibly low-budgets.
9. Awful and downright insulting writing.
10. To make even matters worse, they're just getting away with it to avoid lawsuits! This goes to show how blind they are to criticism.

Redeeming Qualities

1. Some of their works are hilarious due to their poor quality and leeching such as Sharknado while others are passable such as their SyFy television series Z Nation, and their Netflix original show Black Summer.
2. They do make original films as well, especially their early ones some of which are good such as its first film Bellyfruit.
3. The Asylum is the least bad of the mockbuster film studios.
