Another big insult to one of the biggest tragedies ever? Even more insulting than the animated movies that also stole the style of Disney, Pixar, Don Bluth, 20th Century Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios.

Titanic II is a low budget made-for-television film made by The Asylum that is filmed, written and stars Shane Van Dyke. It also includes Oscar-nominated actor Bruce Davison and Marie Westbrook. It was released on August 7th, 2010 on SyFy. The plot is about a ship named "Titanic II" that sets sail on its maiden voyage 100 years after its predecessor's infamous sinking, but the forces of nature send an iceberg into its path and its passengers and crew have to escape from the doomed vessel.
Plot
In April 2012, on the 100th Anniversary of the Titanic disaster, Titanic II sets sail from New York to Southampton. But due to global warming In the Arctic Ocean, glacier was slowly falling apart and sends several large icebergs that destroy a submarine, kill a surfer and cause a tsunami that capsizes the Titanic II while destroying every lifeboat on-board.
Why It's Not Even an Official Sequel to Titanic
- The plot itself is downright insulting to the victims who died in the Titanic disaster, and is terribly rushed, which is just stupid.
- The acting is very poor, especially for the cast in this movie.
- It tries to mix Titanic and The Poseidon Adventure, but fails miserably.
- Heck, the back of the DVD case even states "In the tradition of Titanic and Poseidon".
- Even if ice was to cause a tsunami, the ship would not have been impacted at all, due to being in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean!
- All of the characters, including Hayden, are such incredibly unlikable characters.
- Ugly special effects for the tsunami, and as well as the icebergs breaking and even the floating iceberg that was heading straight to the ship.
- The ship on the DVD cover, as well as the ship in the movie, are actually the RMS Queen Mary, a museum ship in Long Beach, California, which looks nothing like the Titanic.
- Awful pacing.
- Misleading title: It's not even a real sequel to Titanic!
- Horrible writing and direction by Shane Van Dyke.
The Only Redeeming Quality
- The soundtrack is decent.
Reception
The film was widely panned by critics and the moviegoers, criticizing the special effects, and its nonsensical, and offensive premise. On the website TheCriticalCritics.com, the film was reviewed as being "a mixed bag" since "it’s better than one might expect, but not as good as one might hope." Though panned generally as "pretty lackluster" as well as "riddled with disaster movie clichés", the performances of some cast members were highlighted for praise, particularly Bruce Davison as a veteran U.S. Coast Guard captain. The movie as a whole was given a rating of "Don't Bother".
