Kiteretsu Daihyakka (キテレツ大百科) is a game developed and published by Epoch on February 23, 1990 for the Famicom only in Japan. It is based off the TV show off the same name, and is the only game in the franchise to be released on the Famicom.

This page will cover the Famicom version of the game, the Super Famicom version is not considered a port.

Why It Makes Miyoko lose Her Interest in Eiichi

  1. To start with, the platforming controls are terrible. Eiichi cannot shoot enemies, because of this, you have to be careful to not take damage from the enemies, or else you will get damaged by them.
    • The only way to destroy enemies is to step on them, then press and hold the A button while he's jumping to defeat them. But the worst part is that the game doesn't tell you this.
    • What's worse is a spike in up above to you, if you jumping, you gonna hit. This is feels like Artifical Difficult and such ridiculous like most nes games is bottomless spike pit, not above spike.
  2. Inconsistent framerate, with it mostly staying around 40 FPS most at the time. Even Super Mario Bros. 3 has a better framerate than this, and it was also released on the exact same platform as this game, and Super Mario Bros. 3 was released in 1988.
  3. Odd title: The game is called by it's show's name, Kiteretsu Daihyakka, and it can confuse people, especially since they might wonder if there's only a video game or a TV show that uses this name, but there are actually a video game, which is this one, and a TV show that has the exact same name.
  4. While the graphics are good, the sprites for Eiichi and friends look weird.
    • Not to mention, the Sprites in the cutscene sequences look ugly.
  5. Much like Minnie from Mickey Mousecapade, Miyoko and Korosuke are annoying protagonists.
    • To start with, they take the same damage as you, what's worse is that when they get stuck on a wall, after escaping, they don't follow the same path as you.
  6. Terrible ending, it's just Eiichi and his friends talking, before they go back home. And nothing else in the ending is shown, like walking somewhere or a cutscene where they talk after rescuing them.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Decent graphics, which are a step up from the other Fuji F. Fujiko-based games.
  2. Awesome soundtrack, it was composed by Hiroyuki Masuno, who also worked for Kemco games.
  3. The English Translation version is useful since the game gives you hints.
