Madden NFL 23 is a 2022 sports videogame developed by EA Tiburon and published by EA Sports. Based on the National Football League, it is the 38th installment in the Madden NFL series, and features John Madden on the cover.

Why It isn't All-Madden

1. First and foremost, this was supposed to be a tribute for John Madden, however, the game still launched buggy.
2. The game is still riddled with bugs and glitches, which is a common theme for Madden titles ever since 19.
3. While the character customization is great, that character customization is limited to superstar mode only, and you are still limited to the same preset faces from previous titles in creating a player.
4. Like most recent Madden NFL games, the graphics have a dull look and is mostly copied from the previous title. It also looks mediocre for 2023 standards.
5. The game was marketed as a return to form for the Madden NFL series, but due to all of the game's problems that are explained in the WINAM section that make the game terrible, it makes the aforementioned marketing come off as poor.
6. Like the previous installments and other EA Sports games, Ultimate Team is where most of the effort was going, as EA mostly earns their money from players buying the premium points currency, and using the points to buy packs, which many gamers continue to do as they are desperate on getting the best MUT cards.
   • The Power Up system, which was a coin sink in previous games to buy older cards of the same player to increase their value was removed, devaluing any of the older cards of the player.
   • Also, the Trading Block was removed in the later part of the season, with EA claiming that disabling the trade block is due to "Fair Play".
7. The game still uses the Frostbite 3 engine, which is a poor fit for sports games.
8. The menu music is still explicit (and heavily censored) rap music.

Redeeming Qualities

1. At least the opening still gives tribute to John Madden, who passed away before the end of 2021.
