Momma's Little Ed is the second half of the first episode in the third season of Ed, Edd n Eddy, and is overall the fifty-fourth episode of the series. It first aired on April 6, 2001.
Plot
Ed and Eddy create chores on forged sticky notes to prank Edd.
Bad Mothering Qualities
- For starters, it's a blatant Edd torture episode in which he's tasked to do a number of absurd and humiliating chores made by the fake sticky notes that Eddy and Ed made. This makes him a Butt-Monkey throughout the whole episode.
- Eddy and Ed are quite unlikable in this episode as they make the aforementioned forged sticky notes just to play pranks on Double D since the latter is so occupied by sticky note communication with his parents.
- Although Eddy receives punishment, Ed is never punished for helping him.
- The title card (shown here) features a hand on a mother's rear, which can come off as uncomfortable, sexual and inappropriate for a kids' show.
- Granted, Ed, Edd n Eddy may have a few innuendo moments/jokes, but they never went that far.
- Speaking of the tasks mentioned in BMQ#1, Edd does extremely embarrassing chores made by Eddy and Ed's sticky notes, which are:
- Stuffing broom lint in his belly button, which is very disgusting to watch.
- Putting his dad's suit on Rolf's pig, Wilfred, only to be physically punished by Rolf with a giant hammer hat.
- Going to the Kanker Sisters' trailer for a cup of sugar, only to be kissed and tortured by them.
- Plot hole: How does Edd know that his parents wrote these fake sticky notes, when it was actually Eddy and Ed doing them all along?
- The Eds never did any scams in this episode whatsoever, making it one of the few episodes where they don't do scams.
- The sounds of people screaming in terror and a machine gun firing that play in the part where Edd dreads over the "sticky notes of the apocalypse" is rather unsettling to hear.
- The scene where Edd and Ed renovate Eddy's room for Edd to move in is very painful to watch as it has the former two wrecking it, with Ed destroying various pieces of furniture and "sawing" the air in half, and Edd sucking up Eddy's rug and magazines. It should be noted that it's considered as a criminal mischief (for characters considered kind and well-intentioned on the show) to destroy other people's belongings and property.
- Although this can come be seen as a comeuppance for Eddy for his mean pranks.
- The part in which Eddy lashed out at Edd and kicked him out for ruining the former's room is incredibly harsh. In fact, even Ed was saddened by Eddy's nasty behavior.
- A pointless fourth wall breaker in which Eddy lied to Edd that Kevin is responsible for the sticky note prank, even though he isn't even in this episode.
- This episode even sends out a bad moral showing that it is okay to take adventage of other people as shown by Ed and Eddy playing a trick on Double D.
- Rolf and the Kanker sisters have no purpose to the episode but filler, before Lee and May started to go head over heels to get Eddy and Ed kissed and tortured by them before Ed trapped the heads of the aformentioned duo and Marie Kanker stuck in an empty sugar cup before saying "WAIT FOR ME, EDDY!".
Good Qualities
- Edd is very likable despite what he did to Eddy at the end of the episode (No one can blame you, Double D).
- Ed may somewhat be likable too.
- Eddy does get his comeuppance at the end of the episode, as stated in BMQ#8.
- The Kankers' also get their comeuppance for the first time when Ed traps them in a measuring cup and fleeing.
- A few funny moments here and there.
- Late in the episode, Eddy does eventually feels guilty for kicking Edd out, only because of Ed's pained reaction to him kicking Double D out.
- The music that plays during the scene in which Edd is in Eddy's bed at night is quite calm and relaxing.
- The episode did give us "The hat of discipline" meme.
- "DID YOU LIVE IN THE CAVE?!"
- Good ending: Eddy, after feeling guilty for kicking Double D, lets him stay at his house for the night, gives him some warm milk and reads him one of his biology book, it then goes into funny mode when Double D asks Eddy to massage his foot, causing Eddy to yell for Ed.
