"Mutiny on the Krusty" is episode 204a of the 9th season of SpongeBob SquarePants.

Summary

A tyrannical Mr. Krabs has to guide his employees and customers back to their homes after a storm blows away the Krusty Krab.

Why This Episode Is Mutiny

  1. The episode's plot and the way that Kaz wrote is very sloppy and unclear.
    • It's very surprising and sad that Kaz wrote many good episodes (especially for his Season 3 episodes as "Chocolate with Nuts", and "Wet Painters") over this one.
  2. Mr. Krabs is at his absolute worst here in terms of the post-sequel era, as he forces his customers to spend all their money and tells them that there's nothing to worry about, yet it was all his fault that people were in this situation in the first place.
  3. The Bikini Bottomites aren't any better either because at one point in the episode, they think that Mr. Krabs is a tyrant and then at some point, they need his tyranny to save them, which doesn't make any sense.
  4. Another horrible flaw of the episode is that it doesn't know how to continue, after Mr. Krabs gets taken away by the wind, they just create like two plots that are completely unnecessary like:
    • First, Squidward being a "leader" by the customers
    • Then, a monster appears and invades the Krusty Krab, even worse, they have the need to introduce a lot of filler before any of these plots even start
  5. Mediocre ending: Mr. Krabs suddenly appears again, and he will fight the monster, but only if the customers agree to spend ALL their money at the Krusty Krab, showing how much of his lust for money has gotten. Then after fighting the monster, he makes everyone except SpongeBob tow the restaurant back to Bikini Bottom.
  6. Mr. Krabs never gets punished or even remotely get called out for his actions, making him a Karma Houdini.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. SpongeBob and Squidward are the only likable characters.
  2. At least the concept of this episode is good, even though it is executed poorly.
  3. SpongeBob steering the Krusty Krab is decent.
  4. Some of the jokes here and there can be pretty funny:
    • The Krusty Krab blowing away in the middle of the episode, can come across as pretty hilarious to some people, especially to fans of SpongeBob SquarePants.
    • The scene of SpongeBob threatening Mr. Krabs of him using Krabs' first dime in a vending machine can come across as pretty funny to some people, even if it's insulting.

Trivia

  • This is the second lowest episode on Episode Ninja with an average rating of 3.2/10 based on five votes.
  • According to PhantomStrider, this episode highlights SpongeBob's "SpinelessBob" trait, where SpongeBob has a cult-like devotion to Mr. Krabs. He also put this episode as the third worst Mr. Krabs episode.
