NCAA GameBreaker 2001 is an American football game developed by RedZone Interactive and published by Sony Computer Entertainment America under its 989 Sports label. It was released in 2000 for PlayStation and PlayStation 2 consoles.
This page will only cover the PS2 version of the game.
Why It's a GameBreaker (and NOT In a Good Way)
- Like NFL GameDay 2001, it was rushed to shelves, this time being released just in time for Christmas.
- Also like NFL GameDay 2001, it reuses animations from the PS1 releases of NCAA GameBreaker.
- Several bugs, glitches, and slowdowns are present.
- It has the infamous ProTalk feature.
- Play editor is greatly scaled down.
- There are fewer teams and stadiums than its PS1 counterpart.
- As with GameDay, it fails to use the capabilities of the PlayStation 2.
The Only Redeeming Quality
- It has a good presentation, including commentary by the legendary Keith Jackson and the famous fight songs.
Reception
NCAA GameBreaker 2001 received mixed reviews from the critics. On Metacritic, it holds a score of 57.[1]
