"NickRewind" (formerly The '90s Are All That, The Splat, and NickSplat) was a programming block that broadcasts nightly over TeenNick from 2011 to 2022.

Why It NickRewinded

  1. The block showed reruns of classic mid-late 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s children's programming, mostly shows that aired on Nickelodeon during their original runs. It also aired some movies that were released by Paramount Pictures.
  2. They aired the following Nickelodeon shows for this block:
  3. Awesome callbacks such as commercials, promos, bumpers and everything.
  4. It celebrated the 21st and 25th Anniversaries for the SNICK block.
  5. It spawned merchandise for both Nicktoons and live-action shows.
  6. They also aired shows for both Nicktoons and Nickcoms for marathon for either holidays or else.
  7. It even aired some classic Nickelodeon stuff like commercials, promos, bumpers and music videos.

Bad Qualities

  1. The Latin American versions of NickRewind were broadcasted as specials on Nickelodeon Latin America and Brazil in August 2020. They weren't good, since they aired shows inappropriate for the block like Modern SpongeBob SquarePants and The Loud House.
  2. Starting in 2020, the variety in programming dwindled, with the block only airing Rugrats, Rocko's Modern Life, Doug, and Hey Arnold!.
    • AAAHH!!! Real Monsters and The Angry Beavers were eventually taken off the block and Ren and Stimpy stopped airing regularly after John Kricfalusi's controversies in 2018.
    • Even worse, the block went downhill in late 2021 after they made the horrid decision to only air iCarly and Rugrats, which is not a good move at all. Even worse, Rugrats went off the block after January 10, 2022, leaving iCarly as the only show there and making the block lose its purpose. This ultimately lead to the block's demise on January 31, 2022.
  3. What's even worse, is that because of the block was discontinued, they never got a chance to aired some other shows like SpongeBob SquarePants (the first 6 seasons), The Brothers Garcia, Taina, The Fairly OddParents (the first 5 seasons), Romeo!, Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, Unfabulous, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Catscratch, The X's, Just Jordan, etc.

Trivia

  • There have been requests from classic cartoon and Nickelodeon fans to make NickRewind as a 24/7 channel.
  • Before the logo rebrand in 2019, Nick Rewind was an hour-long block on Nickelodeon that aired from 1:00 - 2:00 pm EDT every Sunday in the spring of 2006. It featured such shows as The Wild Thornberrys, Rocko's Modern Life, Rocket Power, and The Ren and Simpy Show. It also featured old Nickelodeon bumpers and station ads. The block stopped airing on August 20, 2006, and the station IDs weren't used anymore.
  • Speaking of which, Nick Rewind was also a brand of merchandise and clothing, collection of DVDs released by Paramount Home Entertainment, Amazon.com (to sell exclusive manufacture-on-demand DVD sets) and Shout! Factory, as well as some Nicktoons on Comcast through OnDemand. It is also currently a series of iTunes collections composed of old Nicktoons.
  • Most of the shows can be streaming on Paramount+, Hulu, and Netflix.
  • Despite the block's discontinuation, NickRewind still has their social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and YouTube (unfortunately, the latter itself was only posting modern Nickelodeon shows like iCarly, Victorious, Sam & Cat, etc).
  • The block was shut down, presumably to get more people to subscribe to Paramount+.
