Synopsis

Feeling the other Titans depend too much on their superpowers, Robin challenges them to go 24 hours without using their special abilities. To his distress, they all quickly succeed, leading him to question his own value to the team.

Why There Is No Power Indeed

  1. This episode’s plot is the clichéd “character has to stop doing habit/mannerisms for 24 hours.” plot, it is very overdone and tired as it has been done for decades now. However, unlike the plot’s structure, the “habits” the Titans have are just there for the plot and it comes off as incredibly forced. Details will be explained below.
  2. When Beast Boy says “brah” after the Titans cheat on the obstacle course with their powers, it’s spelled onscreen as “bra”, which is a women’s undergarment. It’s not appropriate for the target audience, and it’s questionable how it got past the censors.
  3. The Titans are suddenly dependent on their powers for this episode, however, it comes off as forced to start the plot. As previous episodes showed them doing tasks without their powers.
    • The Titans also act very lazy, too, where Starfire even destroy the tower with her lasers, because she doesn’t feel like walking, and opening the doors.
  4. Plot-hole: Why is Raven suddenly unable to walk, when previous episodes established she can walk fine on her own?
  5. Raven squishing flies is disgusting as she squishes them with her butt which seems like something that came straight out of DeviantArt. Thankfully, the aftermath is not shown.
  6. Half-Bad ending: Robin build a robot of him to tell the Titans to use their powers so that they lose the contest, because he was jealous of the other Titans, then the challenge is over and they all declare themselves the new leaders of the Teen Titans. The episode just ends.
    • Side note, Raven didn't even win the bet, considering she's shown floating when Robin was thought to be dead.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Half-Good ending: the Titans tell Robin they still honor him, too bad it doesn't last long.
  2. The Titans using props as weapons is very cool.
  3. Beast Boy’s pet cat is hilarious, and he should’ve been a recurring character in the series.
