Our Drawings is an animated comedy adventure film by the YouTuber, Calobi Productions, it was released on October 19, 2023 which was reuploaded.

Why It Fluffing Sucks

  1. Poor writing, with examples such as:
    • "Are you from Ohio or something?"
    • "I lost my lovely accent when I grew up."
    • "What the fluff? Why isn’t this drawing coming to life, eughhh!"
    • "I don’t believe in premarital handholding."
    • "Anyone can draw; it just matters if you suck or nyat."
    • "SHUT THE FLUFF UP!"
    • "Useless art; I need stronger drawings."
    • "I need DAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!"
    • "WILL YOU SHUT THE FLUFF UP?"
  2. The voice acting feels very poor. For example, the bald wizard sounds like someone’s dad doing an awful Eric Cartman impersonation.
  3. Plot holes:
    • How does Paige Foster have a supernatural pen that makes things come to life?
    • Why does the wizard want to get rid of Paige?
    • How does a coma make Paige have magical abilities such as going inside of drawings? Does she have schizophrenia?
    • Did her friends have unexplained magical abilities as well? How would they go into the world with her?
    • How did Mist get in Paige’s world?
    • Why did the art teacher suddenly become a villain?
    • How does Paige one-shot the bald wizard? And how did she know that he was hurting her beat-boxing puppy?
  4. Boring, mostly unlikeable characters.
    • Paige Foster is the main protagonist of the story, yet she has no personality besides her hobby of painting.
    • The bald wizard has the same comebacks an elementary schooler would make.
    • The beat-boxing puppy serves no actual purpose in the film besides being the quirky animal sidekick.
    • In fact, there are a lot of characters who serve no purpose and are just there for no reason, such as Puzzle and Albert.
    • Puzzle is a very annoying character since he keeps screaming for no apparent reason and he calls himself the most pleasing creature in all of the land, which feels like a complete lie.
    • To make matters worse, the owner of Calobi Productions shamelessly included his OC in the movie. Furthermore, he can be considered as a Gary Stu who one-shot Paige’s sister.
  5. Some things don’t make sense in the film. For example, why does the beat-boxing puppy appear randomly in the film when Paige says “beat-boxing puppy” to her friend? Even her blonde friend looks shocked by it.
  6. The music and lyrics aren't particularly good. In fact, the beat-boxing puppy does a song in which he spends 90% of the lyrics repeating, "I'm the beat-boxing puppy." Not to mention the other absurd lyrics, which include "I'm the bear."
    • Later, Paige sings a song that feels poorly written and has awful vocals.
  7. The worlds that Paige Foster goes into look unfinished and ugly.
  8. Poorly animated characters who look like Miraculous Ladybug rip-offs somehow look more dead inside. And most of the time, they have the same body language a typical Family Guy character would have.
    • Speaking of the animation, the entire Beatboxing Puppy scene is lazy because it’s clear it’s just an animation loop during the entire song.
  9. Speaking of poorly animated, the 2D sequence isn’t all that good either, especially the last part.
  10. The fights are unimpactful and boring.
  11. Godawful pacing throughout the film.
  12. The film has too many narrators and introductions.
  13. It has tons of outdated internet memes, such as Ohio. Calobi said the film took 6 years to make and yet it has numerous memes from a year ago.

The Only Redeeming Quality

  1. For a film that was made entirely by one person, it's quite an impressive achievement, even if it doesn't excuse the major flaws the film has.

Reception

The film has garnered negative attention on most social media such as TikTok, Twitter, and YouTube, it has a 5.8/10 on IMDb and a 2.6 on Letterboxd.
