Paint Job is the thirty-first episode in Season 5 and the 147th episode overall of Regular Show.

Plot

Mordecai and Rigby paint the whole house after the pizza pouch incident they played.

Why It Doesn't Paint

  1. This episode initially wants to feel sorry for both Mordecai and Rigby for messing the house using pizza pouches, but in the second half, it is all thanks to Rigby for calling the Stealth Co. just to make the house invisible while they are in the Coffee Shop with Eilene. Overall, this makes Rigby a complete joke in this episode.
    • It feels like the writers completely forgot about Mordecai and Rigby's artistic side (like their very good performance in music and bands) in the previous seasons, and if they do, they should have know better.
  2. It is also a Mordecai and Rigby torture episode for not traditionally focusing on painting the house, they instead slack off by watching the Stealth commercial, just to get away scot-free, and it is most likely Rigby's fault for not focusing on painting the house.
  3. Rigby and Benson are unlikable for some reasons:
    • Rigby is the prominent reason why he called for Stealth Company instead of painting the house, explaining why the pilot attempts to destroy Pop's house but fails as he shoots Benson's car instead.
    • Benson is horribly unlikable to the point that his severe anger issues cranks up to 11. Sure, he has the right to reprimand Mordecai and Rigby for messing up Pop's house and destroying the car as a punishment (despite the pilot causing the trouble not them), but his anger issues does not solve anything nor make an excuse just to make him more mean-spirited. He would also not have eaten the buttered popcorn when the pilot attempts to destroy Pop's house which is an idiotic move for him.
      • Worst of all it acts as if Benson was even more horrible than Rigby in this season as his his anger issues as an abusive official were cranked up all the way to 40%.
  4. The opening scene shows Mordecai and Rigby throwing pizza pouches on Pop's House, but it got intercepted when Benson gets very pissed at them for throwing too many pizza pouches, forcing them to clean the house using the power washer.
  5. Rigby attempts to use the power washer, but he made it more powerful just to ruin Pop's house, which pisses Benson off and forces them to paint the house.
  6. After Mordecai and Rigby leave the Coffee Shop, they see that Pop's house is invisible because the Stealth Co. Agent made a plan to destroy it, which is Rigby's fault for calling the Stealth Co. rather than focusing on painting the house so Benson would impress it.
  7. Muscle Man does not serve any purpose in this episode but to promote him as a plot armor.
  8. Bad Ending: Benson punishes Mordecai and Rigby for destroying the car even though the Agent summons the pilot to destroy the house because it is invisible. Afterwards, Benson tells them that the house is invisible, leaving Mordecai and Rigby confused for all the latter's obliviousness.
    • Benson reprimanding Rigby is excusable and justified, but for Mordecai, it is straight-up cruel and inexcusable, since he did nothing wrong and he attempts to do his duty well.
  9. It even sends out a bad moral showing that accusing the innocent person over nothing is okay and leaving them out of the situation is wrong as shown by Benson accusing Mordecai for what Rigby started in the end, not to mention that this moral got repeated from the episode The Really Odd Couple from The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy and Fiasco! from SpongeBob SquarePants.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Mordecai and Eileen are likable characters in this episode.
  2. The scene where Eileen orders hot water in exchange of coffee is hilarious.
