"Peace and Quiet" is the first part of the first episode in the first season of Garfield and Friends.

Plot

After staying up all night watching TV, Garfield tries to get some sleep. Binky the Clown mistakenly believes that he is meant to sing a birthday song at Garfield's address, and refuses to leave until he can perform.

Why It Deserves Sleep

  1. It was the very first episode of the first spin-off of the Jon Davis classic comic strip, "Garfield and Friends", meaning that we get introduced to a lot of things that made the show great & faithful, such as a lasagne-loving but lazy cat named Garfield, a dog called Odie, their human owner named Jon Arbuckle, and so much more!
  2. The Happy Birthday song Binky the Clown sings to Garfield (mistaking him for Mrs Fogerty) is pretty funny, along with Binky the Clown's many other pranks he does on Garfield.
  3. "If he does, Edna won't make 98."
  4. Garfield is a likable and relatable character, as he tries many ways to get to sleep & his plans to throw Binky out of the house are very clever, but Binky waking him up can be justified due to him watching television all night.
  5. Garfield disgusing as Mrs Fogerty in order for Binky the Clown to sing his special Happy Birthday song is pretty neat.
  6. Great Plot Twist: It turns out that not only was it Mrs Fogerty's birthday (according to Binky) but Garfield's as well because of Jon and Odie getting Garfield birthday gifts.
  7. Funny Ending: After Binky the Clown sings his Happy Birthday song to Garfield on his birthday, he decides to run away to a very far away mountain to finally get some peace and quiet - but Binky somehow finds Garfield and it ends with him singing his birthday song for the final time.

Reception

It holds a rating of 7.7/10 on IMDB.
