"Pluto's Party" is a 1952 cartoon in the Mickey Mouse series, produced by Walt Disney Productions and released by RKO Radio Pictures on September 19th 1952, It was the 124th short in the Mickey Mouse film series to be released, and the first for that year.

Plot

It's Pluto's birthday and Mickey is busy preparing the party things for his birthday dog, Pluto.

Why It's Not a Party

  1. It's a Pluto torture episode.
  2. Mickey's nephews are extremely unlikable characters. They ignore Pluto for the whole short and eat (almost) all of his cake!
  3. Mickey's nephews are also Gary-Stus, They don't get punished by Mickey for their bad behaviour towards Pluto.
  4. Mickey acts completely out of character and is a little mean to Pluto like in one scene where he scolds Pluto to come down while he was in mid air, even though it was the nephews' fault.
  5. The ending is really depressing, at least until the last few seconds.
  6. Despite being a Mickey Mouse cartoon, Mickey doesn’t have that much of a major role unlike Pluto or the nephews do.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Pluto is the only likable character.
  2. Good Ending - After being tortured for the whole episode, Pluto finally gets some cake (After Mickeys nephews eat almost all of it) but let's not forget that Pluto only gets one piece of cake while the others get two.
  3. Good animation and voice acting.
