Power Rangers Time Force is an action video game based on the 9th season of the TV series, Power Rangers Time Force released in 2001 for the Game Boy Color.

Gameplay

The Game Boy Color version is a platforming side-scroller. The five Time Force rangers travel through time stopping enemies. The player can choose to play as any of the five main Time Force Rangers. The game also features Zord battles.

Good Qualities

  1. It is a much better game than the PS1 and GBA versions as this game is way more fun and is more challenging while still being more balanced than those games.
  2. The gameplay is very fun as it is challenging and the platforming is very well done, it is also very similar to Lightspeed Rescue on the same console, albeit now a standard action platformer.
  3. Tight and responsive controls.
  4. Good level design that is well designed for a beat 'em up platformer since for the most parts, the enemies are well placed and the fact that the platforming is well designed, although some of the later levels are poorly designed and did add some of the difficulty problem later on.
  5. While the game difficulty is unbalanced, it at least not as unbalanced as in the PS1 version which was either too easy and for the most parts extremely frustrating due to horrible gameplay, or either not as unbalanced as the GBA game since that one also is way too easy and sometime had harder level that show up like if they didn't wanted the game difficulty to be consistent.
  6. Excellent graphics for a Game Boy Color title, as the graphics are very detailled, colorful and the sprites work is amazing, in fact it manage to look even better than Lightspeed Rescue on the same system and come of as one of the best looking game of the console.
  7. Great soundtrack that is once again very catchy and unforgettable, also it fit the Power Rangers franchise.
  8. It is overall the best version of the Time Force video game tie-in.

Bad Qualities

  1. The game difficulty is quite unbalanced at times and can be unfairly difficult, either because of the later levels that are poorly designed or because of the hit and miss hit-detection.
  2. The game is rather short, lasting only 45 minutes.
  3. The Megazord battles are just horrible, especially because of the fact that the hit-detection is atrocious and that it is unfairly hard, even worse than the main levels themself.
  4. The hit-detection is hit and miss, as stated before, since sometime it doesn't work well and the enemies doesn't take your punch despite that it look like they got hit.
