Synopsis

When the Smurf Forest starts turning into a battlefield by humans, Smurfette, Hefty, Greedy, and Jokey decide to vanish them from the land.

Why It Get Revenge (In A Good Way)

  1. The episode tone is much darker than usual, and while yes previous episodes also had their fair amount of dark elements, here it is even darker than most of them because the humans are doing wars and even destroyed the entire village of the Smurfs, the episode dark tone is even more easier to see when they want to revenge.
  2. All the characters are likable, as we feel sorry for their village and some of them were so angry about it that they even want to revenge, this show that they don't play around here, even if Papa Smurf told them to not.
    • This episode even had the Smurfs at their absolute peak in term of causing mischiefs because they do everything so that the horses that the humans villains had escape and they even play a trick on the humans, causing them to destroy all of their things, which was clearly deserved and what best is that they were not even captured once.
  3. The concept of the Smurfs that want to cause revenge because of something bad was a great concept considering that they are a large number of them, and this episode does execute this concept at the perfection.
  4. The scenes where the Smurfs does their plans on the humans villains are absolutely entairtaining and very funny, and is one of the best moments of the whole episode, where it's already a great watch from start to finish.
  5. Speaking about funny moments, despite the episode dark tone, this episode is still full of funny and lighthearted moments, such as the beginning when they had fun that is lighthearted as usual, or for a funny moment, it also had when the humans causing troubles at their place because of the Smurfs plan, ect.
  6. Amazing animation and good voice acting as usual, the animation here is very detailled and at it's best in the entire season, as it is fluid and had very solid colors palette, the scenes where the humans does attack are the most well animated scenes of the whole episode.
  7. It show that revenge isn't a right thing as you could get in troubles for that, or even die if you're revenge yourself to a crazy person, this is also the main moral of the episode.
  8. It's one of the few times where the village is truly destroyed, rather than being a bit downgraded by Gargamel, this show that the humans were a real treat and could not be stopped properly, especially when compared to Gargamel, who didn't destroyed the village in it's entirety once, that also show that they weren't playing around when doing the war.
  9. Good Ending: All the Smurfs where saved from where they were, and they get out, and they are going to the village once again, Papa Smurf tell them that revenge is wrong, and the ending where they don't want to eat Sloppy cooking, even then that moment was a bit mean-spirited.

Bad Qualities

  1. Despite the dark tone, it doesn't really play well with it in some parts of it, as even when they doing the plan, it still doesn't sound dark enough to fit that scene, even some of the less dark moments had darker musics than what was used here.
  2. Like some other episodes, considering the plot, it would somewhat fit more to a 22 minutes running time than a 11 one as they cause revenge, adding more depths into that plot would had been even better.
  3. The Smurfs still act a bit out of character for wanting revenge as they're supposed to be kind to each other and being forgiving, even if the humans did really destroy their village but it still understable because again, they destroyed their villages and most of them were very angry.

Trivia

  • The animation of the Smurfs running is reused from "The Magic Egg". Interestingly, some of the Smurfs are mirrored to go the other way.
    • The reused animation causes an error, however, as Grouchy is seen running with them but is immediately seen at the edge of the village in the scene following.
