Robin Backwards (Teen Titans Go!)

Robin Backwards is the 27th episode of the 2nd season of Teen Titans Go!.

"Robin Backwards (Teen Titans Go!)"
This episode just cements a very inconsistent theme in TTG!, “do the Titans like ice cream or not?” and has nonsensical multiverse traveling, THAT’S NOT HOW YOU DO IT!!
Part of Season: 2
Episode Number: 27
Air Date: January 22, 2015
Writer: Caldwell Tanner
Director: Luke Cormican
Previous episode: Hot Garbage
Next episode: Crazy Day

Synopsis

Nibor, the Bizarro World's Robin, arrives in Jump City, and the Titans decide they should probably keep an eye on him.

Why It Goes Backwards (In a Bad Way)

  1. Plot Inconsistencies: Just like the episodes, Opposites and Operation: Dude Rescue, the Titans are shown to love ice cream. However, this will later be retconned in Titan Saving Time when the episode opens with the Titans whining about why they hate ice cream when Cyborg gives them ice cream, we’re not kidding, it actually happened. However, this is later retconned again in Sweet Revenge, when the Titans again are shown to love to ice cream. Having inconsistencies in characters is very confusing to audiences.
  2. Poor Storytelling: Just like Beast Girl later on, this episode dives in the multiverse but it’s handled poorly. Nibor just comes out of nowhere it’s never explained how he left Bizzarro.
  3. Cyborg is also portrayed to be dumber than Patrick Star in this episode because it takes him half the episode to realize that Nibor is Robin spelled backwards. His stupidity is not funny either.
  4. Robin writing a rule book is ridiculous.
  5. Beast Boy is annoying during the game show fantasy scene because he mixes up opinion from fact.
  6. How Robin goes to the Bizzarro World makes no sense because he uses the elevator to get there and Titans’ elevator has been shown not be capable of multiversal travel.
  7. Plot hole: Why didn’t Robin speak Bizzarro when he was shown to speak it when the Titans meet Nibor. He also unintentionally offends the Bizzarro Titans due to not speaking their language. It comes as if he’s intentionally trying to offend them, which is also offensive.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Robin tricking the Titans to go to a meeting by saying they get a sundae bar was admittedly funny.
  2. Nibor is actually funny.
  3. Ignoring Beast Boy’s screaming, the rest of the fantasy game show is funny.
