Synopsis

Raven and Beast Boy are surprised to discover that their exes, Terra and Aqualad, are dating each other.

Why It Has No Rocks and Any Water

  1. This episode is incredibly mean-spirited and Raven and Beast Boy are highly unlikable throughout the episode. Granted, they were jealous but jealousy does not excuse their abhorrent behavior.
  2. After Raven and Beast Boy’s heartwretching lament, Aqualad and Terra come out of nowhere and announce they are dating, the other Titans only come out to insult them.
    • Cyborg also uses their genders as justifying their differences and it feels like a cheap way to shoehorn in LGBTQ agenda to get brownie points.
  3. After this, we get a montage of Raven and Beast Boy becoming jealous and ruining Aqualad and Terra’s dates.
    • To make matters worse, Robin ignorantly joins with Starfire.
    • Here are Raven and BB’s schemes:
      • Screwing up Aqualad and Terra’s restaurant order so Aqualad’s adoptive father, a squid is being eaten.
      • Ruining Aqualad’s painting.
      • Setting a fish and rock on the bench Terra and Aqualad were sitting at to make it look like they attacked each other. (How did they fall this trick? It’s the dumbest one RA and BB pulled in the entire episode?)
  4. Plot hole: How were Aqualad and Terra able to fall for some of these schemes because some are very stupid (like the fish and rock bit)?
  5. While Raven and Beast Boy were doing these things because they were jealous, it does not excuse their behavior and they should’ve just left Aqualad and Terra alone. They’re happy and they should’ve just accepted that they’re dating.
  6. Also, Aqualad and Terra are dating for one reason and terrible reason, because they HATE THE TITANS. That is not a good reason, typically people date because they love the person and their qualities are compatible to them.
  7. Cyborg is also unlikable in the episode because he keeps sabotaging people’s dates, his subplot could’ve been cut entirely.
  8. Bad ending: Raven and Beast Boy get over their jealousy and decide to start dating. They kiss, only for Cyborg to ruin it.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Aqualad and Terra were a cute couple.
  2. At least Raven and Beast Boy end up dating themselves.
