School of Crock is the thirty-eighth episode in ninth season of The Fairly OddParents.
Plot
Mr. Crocker becomes a teacher at Spellementary School and tries to steal all the students' magic. Meanwhile, Poof is going through `pooferty' and is finally learning to speak.
Why It (C)Rocks
- The way Poof was speaking in gibberish and babbling for most of the episode is pretty adorable, as this is something babies in real life do.
- A nice parody of puberty in this episode. As an example, fairy babies go from saying "Poof, poof" to actual words as they go through "pooferty".
- Mr. Crocker's scheme to drain all of the fairy babies' magic to give him super powers using his blender invention that he created.
- This is also one of the few episodes where Sparky is minor role.
- The epic battle between Poof and Crocker.
- Minor callbacks to the earlier episodes of the series. Chip Skylark's "My Shiny Teeth and Me" song is heard in the background in Timmy's room.
- Poof's new voice in the end is pretty good, as he sounds almost like Timmy, but lower-pitch.
- It was nice for the writers to let Poof speak for the first time since the other fairy babies also speak as well.
- While odd and questionable, Foop and Poof are finally cool with each other and Foop apologizes for trying to destroy Poof.
- It's great to see Timmy, Cosmo, Wanda, Mr. Turner, Foop, Mr. Crocker, etc in their original personality.
Bad Qualities
- While it's nice to see Poof talk, the second time that he speaks sounds a bit off as he sounds like Timmy Turner but lower.
- Continuity is still ignored at times, as per usual for Season 9. One notable example is when Timmy wished Crocker to be far away as possible, how did he end up in Fairy World's Spellementary School? Combined with the fact that he is human and his status as a fairy hunter.
- Additionally, Mr. Crocker and Foop seemingly appear to not recognize each other in this episode despite the fact that they have already interacted with each other before in previous episodes such as "When Losers Attack". However, this can be excused by the simple fact that Crocker is suppose to hunt fairies, since Foop is an anti-fairy, which is almost the same thing as a regular fairy.
- The running gags are still annoying at times.
- Following other Season 9 episodes that featured him as Main Role, this feels like another forced and the twelfth in season 9 Mr. Crocker episode, despite Mr. Crocker himself being in-character and the plot itself being decent.
- Mr. Turner's voice cameos are also pointless, especially since he does not physically appear in this episode.
