Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue! is a spin-off of the Scooby-Doo franchise. It ran for two seasons from September 23, 2006, to March 15, 2008.

Plot

Shaggy and Scooby-Doo become rich and solve various crimes around the world with the help of inherited cash and inventions from Shaggy's missing uncle.

Clueless Qualities

1. Misleading title: Shaggy and Scooby DO NOT get a clue whatsoever in the show, instead they only focus about facing other "non-monster-costume-wearing" villain like Dr. Phineas Phibes.
2. Poor grasp of the original source material, even when Joseph Barbera was involved in this show:
   • There are no monsters or ghosts in this show, just an evil scientist and main villain of the entire show named Dr Phineas Phibes, even though previous shows were always about the Mystery Inc. gang catching monsters.
   • The Scooby Snacks are portrayed like generic super power ups for Scooby-Doo, rather than standard food to get the duo up and running.
   • The Mystery Machine, the gang's car, is able to transform into other vehicles like a plane and an driller, which is nonsensical, even for a Scooby-Doo show.
3. Bland animation with an even more bland art style with pale, washed-out colors.
   • With regards to the art style, the designs of Shaggy and Scooby and the rest of the characters look really weird and a little uncanny. It's interesting to note that they're supposed to represent their live-action appearance from the live-action Scooby-Doo movies.
4. Few characters from the original series appear. Fred, Velma, and Daphne, particularly, are only seen in two episodes and aren't seen again, which was an example of wasted potential.
5. Annoying and below average soundtrack that sounds like stock rock music.
6. The humor and jokes are very poor for Scooby-Doo standards, only relying on fart jokes and toilet humor.
7. The infamously horrible, loud, annoying, cringey and plain obnoxious theme song that rips off "One Fine Day" by The Offspring.
   • Its "theme song" has repetitive and quite weird lyrics, one infamous example is: "I’M GONNA SING THIS SONG ALL DAY LONG!". The male singers also almost sound like they're getting progressively angrier while singing it as if they were annoyed of what they were singing.
   • Speaking of the theme song, the intro is extremely confusing. It shows everyone running out of nowhere back and forth in silhouettes, Shaggy and Scooby doing weird dances (with one of them seems like they're doing the air piano or using an air keyboard), the title of the show randomly sliding everywhere, and Dr. Phibes looks like he's doing a Hitler salute. You see it down here in the Video section.
   • And to add insult to injury it was sung by Mark Mothersbaugh who also did the theme to Rugrats and All Grown Up, which had great theme songs.
8. False Advertising and possible Irony: In the intro it shows the rest of the Mystery Inc gang implying that they will play a big part in the series when as stated above they only appear in two episodes. What makes this more ironic is that the song states that: "Now the crew is down to 2, just Shaggy and the Scoobǃ".
9. The villains have stereotypes very similar to North Koreans, which is somewhat xenophobic, but none of them are actually North Koreans.
10. While the voice acting is decent and he is an otherwise good voice actor himself, Scott Menville actually does a poor job voicing Shaggy, lacking the genuine charm that Casey Kasem or Matthew Lillard bring to the character, and just comes off as annoying (Kasem himself instead voices Uncle Albert).
11. The premise is just stupid, as there is no way Shaggy and Scooby would became rich by having a mansion and an annoyed butler along with having to deal with their enemy, Dr Phineas Phibes.
12. The story can feel bizarre and not even a mystery show.
13. Both Shaggy and Scooby are horrendously out of character when compared to previous incarnations of the series (perhaps even more so than in Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!), as they're portrayed as being extremely lazy and overall just demoted to generic comic relief characters for no real reason.

"Scooby-Dooby Doo!!!" Qualities

1. Decent voice acting (except for, as mentioned above, Scott Menville as Shaggy).
   • Even if Scott Menville was poor as Shaggy, he did a good job voicing Dr Trebla.
   • Frank Welker is still great as Scooby as always
   • Jeff Bennett was great as Dr. Phibes and Agent 2
2. It is nice to see an incarnation of the series solely focused on both Shaggy and Scooby, even if it wasn't executed very well.
3. Dr. Phineus Phibes is a decent and funny villain, as are his agents (including 1 and 2).
4. There are some genuinely funny moments like Phibes being handsome and clones of Phibes being funnier than him.
5. Despite it being bad, the theme song is fun to listen to in a "so bad, it's good " way kinda like The Nutshack.
   • On a similar topic, the song that plays during the credits is actually pretty catchy and better than the actual theme song.
6. Some decent and okay episodes here and there, like, "Shags to Riches" (which was an ok start to the series),"Almost Ghosts", "Mystery of the Missing Mystery Solvers", "Operation Dog and Hippie Boy", "The Many Faces of Evil", "There's a Doctor in The House", "Scooby Dudes", and "Uncle Albert Alert" (which ended the show on a high note).
   • The show did improve in the second season.
7. The concept about Shaggy and Scooby becoming rich and solving serious crimes while also trying to find Shaggy's missing uncle is interesting, but it’s sadly poorly executed and wasted in here and would probably fit much better in another show and not a Scooby-Doo one.
8. While the animation is bland, there are times where it is pretty fluid.
   • On top of that, some of the Scooby Snack transformations look admittedly cool.
   • Also, some characters have decent character designs, like Dr. Phibes.
9. Despite some of the changes, at least the show is more faithful and still better than the adult series based on the franchise.

• This was the last cartoon series to be produced by Scooby-Doo co-creator Joseph Barbera before his death in December 2006.
• The theme song is "so bad, it's good", that it spawned internet memes.
• Much like Loonatics Unleashed, this show is the only Scooby-Doo series that does not air on Cartoon Network and Boomerang for reruns. However, it was made available for streaming on the Boomerang app since 2018.
• Ray DeLaurentis and Will Schifrin (the writers) later worked on The Fairly OddParents during seasons 7-10.
