Silicon Echo, the Steam's downfall.jpg
The worse edition of Digital Homicide.
Founded: 2017
Defunct: October 2017

Silicon Echo Studios was a "game developer" that was notorious for spamming shovelware games on Steam. After it was confirmed that all of their 173 "games" were stolen Unity tutorials and they used 12 sockpuppets accounts to spam their "games" onto Steam, Valve banned all of their accounts and deleted all of their games.

However, the incident also hurt Valve by revealing that SOMEHOW their new quality control system, Steam Direct, was WORSE than Steam Greenlight.

Why They and Their "Games" Sucked

  1. Similar to Digital Homicide, they spammed asset flips on Steam, but unlike Digital Homicide, who took Unity Asset Store assets and threw them into Unity with almost no care whatsoever, Silicon Echo simply bought Unity tutorials and uploaded them to Steam with little to no modifications. Silicon Echo didn't even bother developing games at all!
  2. Just like many other toxic game developers, they can't take criticism, as they reacted to criticism by attacking the critics.
  3. Their "games" were achievement spammers. In other words, they gave a lot of achievements at once to lure people into buying them.
  4. They used 12 sockpuppet accounts to get around Steam Direct's already non-existent "quality control". Due to this, they had over 173 "games" at once, something that was not even possible with Greenlight.
  5. Literally, their "game" spam on Steam basically proved that they wanted to flood Steam by spamming many "games" as possible. They probably didn't even realize that not many people would buy their games on Steam.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. They proved that Steam Direct was worse than Greenlight.
  2. Despite their reaction to criticism still being bad, they fortunately didn't go as far as Digital Homicide did.
  3. Their logo is pretty cool.
