Sonic Classic Collection is a game developed by The Creative Assembly and published by Sega on March 2010.

Good Qualities

  1. The concept of a Classic Collection for DS isn't a bad idea.
    • Sonic 3 & Knuckles can even be played on the go since it didn't get a mobile release like the Sonic 1 and 2 mobile releases due to legal issues regarding some of the songs, however, it is coming back to modern consoles in Sonic Origins in 2022.
  2. The games are still playable despite the problems.
  3. Solid controls.
  4. Despite the menu music being reused from Sonic Jam, the menu music is catchy and nice to hear.
  5. It has a save feature, so you can continue where you left off.
  6. The included games are still great.
  7. It's overall a major improvement over Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis for the GBA.

Bad Qualities

  1. False advertising: When you start the game, It says all games are the US versions, while the Sonic 1 included in this collection is the Japanese version. Also, the game displays the year 2009 despite this being released on the shelves in 2010.
  2. For some reasons, The Game over screen will get distorted when playing Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
  3. The games included in the collection are emulated rather being ported natively by bringing the source assets from the original games, therefore there are no improvements compared to the original versions.
