Sonic X is a 2005 educational game based off the anime of the same name, which in turn, is based off the Sonic the Hedgehog video game franchise by Sega. It is one of two Sonic games released for a LeapFrog system, the other being Sonic the Hedgehog for the Didj.

Plot

Jealous of everybody talking about Sonic, Dr. Eggman wants everybody to talk about him. Aside from that, he also kidnaps Amy, Knuckles, and Tails. However, Sonic arrives just when the plan is set into action and plans on stopping him yet again.

Why It Should Be Sent to Eggman's Super Sucky Machine

  1. The animation for the cutscenes is choppy. As with every other Leapster game.
  2. Dr. Eggman wanting to steal Sonic's popularity is a stupid and bland idea for a plot.
  3. Like Sonic Labyrinth, Sonic always goes slow no matter what.
  4. Like the NES Castlevania games, the NES port of Dragon's Lair and Sonic '06, Sonic cannot change the direction of his jump in mid air.
  5. There are no real enemies in the game.
  6. The audio quality is bad, like every other Leapster game.
  7. Sonic cannot lose any rings, meaning you cannot die.
  8. Overall, this game is pretty much too easy, with Chadtronic calling it "Sonic for babies."
    • Justified, as this is meant for kindergarten to 1st grade.
  9. Most of Sonic's sprites were recycled from Sonic 3 & Knuckles, with only a couple original sprites, not to mention that the palette is from Sonic Spinball.
  10. The minigames can get boring after a while.
  11. Because of it's easiness, you can beat it in a hour or less.
  12. According to TCRF, this game is a reskin of another Leapster game, Numbers on the Run: Counting on Zero.
  13. Goal Posts (the signs at the end of Sonic levels) act as checkpoints and checkpoint posts act as the goal.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. The voice actors from the English dub of the anime it was based on reprise their roles.
  2. This is the only game where Christopher Thorndyke plays a major role.
  3. To be fair, the bad reasons above are justified since it’s for kindergartners, but may look boring when playing as a grown-up.

Trivia

  • This is one of the only pieces of Sonic X media not to feature Cosmo the Seedrian.
  • This game spawned memes like "Eggman's Super Sucky Machine", which is the name of one of the minigames.
