Staff Meeting is the 20th episode of the 1st season of Teen Titans Go!.

Synopsis

When Robin’s beloved staff is broken by the other Titans, Robin becomes so devastated that he goes on a perilous quest to the ancient Universe Tree to find a new magic staff to replace it.

Why It's a Terrible Meeting

  1. The biggest problem with this episode is that Robin is horribly unlikable in this episode and acts like he’s mentally ill, likely in a poor attempt for comedy.
  2. The whole beginning of the episode starts with the Titans thinking Robin has gone insane and quickly becomes jealous of his staff. They steal it when he is not looking and immediately start playing with it. They fight over it, eventually breaking it. This all feels forced.
  3. There is also a running gag throughout the episode where Robin thinks his staff is alive and it’s laughable and insulting.
  4. We then get a montage of Robin parodying the classic “woman breaks up and cries and binge eats ice cream and listens to Adele on loop” after the Titans break his staff, indicating that he was SEXUALLY ATTRACTED TO HIS STAFF, which is not only disgusting, but also is considered objectophilia.
    • Also, Robin doesn’t play Adele, likely to avoid copyright. Which is a relief.
    • Not to mention, the plot is somewhat similar to "All That Glitters" from the seasons 6-9a from SpongeBob SquarePants since both episodes involve the character desperately crying over a broken object (SpongeBob with a spatula and Robin with a staff).
  5. Raven, sick of Robin’s crying, sends him on a quest to get a magical staff and the Universe Tree looks like Groot, makes you wonder why Marvel hasn’t sued them.
  6. The magical staff beating up the Titans is not funny.
  7. Bad Ending: Raven manages to fix Robin’s staff with magic and everything is okay. To make matters worse, the Titans NEVER APOLOGIZE to Robin for their actions at the beginning of the episode and they do not get punished for their actions.

The Only Redeeming Qualities

  1. Robin’s quest is decent.
  2. Cyborg did call Beast Boy out for breaking Robin's staff.
