Stickin' Around is a Canadian animated cartoon by Nelvana and it was aired in 1996 to 1999.
Plot
The show, which originated as a series of a pilot called The Sticklers and 1-minute vignettes on CBS in 1994, is about two children named Stacy and Bradley, their hand-drawn adventures with their friends and family, and their fantasies. Stacy and Bradley, best friends, encounter many problems they must face as they continue to grow up – if it is with school, bullies, friends, and parents. They always come up with imaginative ideas to eliminate these obstacles, such as becoming a superhero, and putting themselves in a different environment where they have no trouble in defeating their enemies.
Why It Rocks
- Awesome and brilliant animation style that resembles doodle drawings, and stands out from other cartoons.
- Various funny moments, especially Russell saying What?
- Stacy and Bradley are very likable characters.
- Some heartwarming moments.
- The show was beloved by Canadian and American kids and gained a cult following.
- The theme song is both awesome and catchy.
- It is the epitome of creative. It could even be considered the 90s version of ChalkZone if you're expecting it was.
- "Real mature, Bradley!"
Bad Qualities
- While the animation is good, some may find it to be poorly drawn.
- Stacy's catchphrase "For your big fat information" can get old, mean and annoying after a while.
- While Dill isn’t really a bad character, he is kinda annoying.
- The voice-acting isn't the greatest.
- You'd be hard-pressed to find a scene where Bradley actually catches a break: not only is he frequently bullied by Lance and Russell but also by his own best friend on a number of occasions. The series even ends with him getting beat up by the two bullies and Stacy happily unveiling a statue of him getting wedgied. Extremely Mean Spirited.
Reception
The show has received generally positive reviews from audience members; it has a 7.1/10 on IMDb.[1]
