Plot

When Stimpy receives the adoration of many fans, Ren becomes jealous, so Stimpy makes him the president of Stimpy's fan club.

All fans do love Ren and Stimpy so much, who even received letters from fans. But of course, this episode shows us that Stimpy is the one who gets the most fans.

Why It Rocks

All fans do love Ren and Stimpy so much, who even received letters from fans. But of course, this episode shows us that Stimpy is the one who gets the most fans.

  1. The plot of the episode is quite naive, since Ren and Stimpy were making a hit in the 90s by Nickelodeon and also making an episode where Ren and Stimpy receive letters full of love from the fans is very cool and also very good.
  2. Speaking of the fan letters, because of the popularity of Stimpy among the fans and receives a lot of letters, Ren ends up not even receiving a letter from the fans, which makes him depressed, but Stimpy makes him the president of his fan club to cheer him up.
  3. Although Ren had to respond to fan letters with insults, he being the president of the Stimpy's fan club it's nice and has a variety of funny scenes.
  4. Spwaned memorable moments such as the scene when Ren takes the control of the television.
  5. Top notch animation and voice acting from John Kricfalusi and Billy West.
  6. This episode is the most considered the scariest episode of the cartoon, due to the controversial scene inspired by MacBeth where Ren tries to murder and strangle Stimpy in his sleep with his hands, which fortunately ends up not doing.
  7. Sweet ending, when Ren finally deservedly receives a letter, which ends up revealing that the letter was from Stimpy.

The Only Bad Quality

  1. Like the episode Sven Höek (also from Season 2), unfortunately due of the scene when Ren tries to strangle and murder Stimpy, this episode is no longer shown on American TV since 2011, but was also banned in some countries.

Reception

The infamous scene of Ren threatening to kill Stimpy with his hands that caused the episode being banned in some countries.

This episode is one of the most famous episodes of the series, mainly for the climatic scene in which Ren tries to murder Stimpy in his sleep, due to the realistic depiction of sanity slippage, the horrifying imagery, and the shot of Ren screaming and being consumed by the fires of hell.

Trivia

  • The following week after the episode aired, Nickelodeon received a lot of letters from real children, telling Ren that they loved him very much.
  • The scene of Ren's fantasy of being the president of the fan club, with the his vision being the president of the United States, saying WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T AGREE WITH ME?! DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU'RE DEALING WITH! and hitting a big red button (labeled as "The Button") that destroys the region of Oceania and laughs maniacally became an internet meme.
