Super Troll Islands (スーパートロールアイランド, Sūpā Torōrua Irando) is a platform game based on the license of bright-haired toys known as Troll dolls. A Sega Genesis version was planned but never released.
Gameplay
Each scrolling level is initially shrouded in an animated "mist" until they are cleared by running around platforms and ladders in any order, bringing color to an initially greyscale game tile. A brightly coloured background is revealed after the player makes the mist vanish into thin air.
Why It's not Super
- The controls are very slippery and top fast, even Pac-In-Time controls are not as slippery as this game and despite that, that game was still decent, but here it's so bad that it's make the game unplayable.
- The gameplay is very repetitive for a SNES game, especially for 1994.
- Even worst the game is long for something like this, even Doraemon: Meikyuu Daisakusen we're more fun and varied than this even if that game is repetitive.
- The graphics are atrocious, especially for 1994, Super Mario World have way better graphics and it's was released all the way back in 1990.
- The soundtrack is incredibly awful, it's sound like a early 1980s arcade game sometime due to how bad it is, and definitely not in a good ways, on fact it is so bad that even Tom & Jerry on SNES sound better than this.
- The difficulty is very unbalanced, the game is not that hard in real but it is hard because of the awful controls of the game, or even the awful enemies placements.
- Awful levels design, and we mean very awful because of how fast you are and you can easily easily die because of how poorly designed the levels are.
- There are no save feature so if you run off of the continue you have to start all over again, this is a huge problem considering how long this game is.
- Really bad ending that it's not worthy to beat the game due to how terrible it is.
- To get the real ending of the game you need to go to 100% but as said before it's not even worth it.
Reception
The game received mixed to negative reviews by critics but extremely negative reviews by players.
