I feel like this page doesn't quite understand the true nature of 8:46.

Is it a 9/11 game? Yes. Is the subject matter and presentation very disturbing? Yes. But do I think it's distasteful and reprehensible? No. If we take a look at the interviews the creator gave surrounding this, he designed it as an empathy simulator. He designed it to show what it was like to be inside the towers and to give the perspective of a victim. It's clear to me that the purpose is to teach those who weren't impacted why this was such a terrifying reality.
