The Boys are Back in Town is the fifth episode in the fifth season of The Powerpuff Girls.
Plot
HIM is sick and tired of all of the villains (including himself) failing in their neverending plot to destroy the Powerpuff Girls, so he brings the Rowdyruff Boys back to life and makes them more powerful than ever. The Powerpuff Girls try to defeat them by kissing them again, but this time, instead of the kisses destroying them, it only makes them "bigger and more powerful".
Why It's So Back
- The girls managing to beat all the main villains in one go is extremely impressive and enjoyable to watch, along with the Rowdyruff Boys becoming more bigger after being kissed by the girls but smaller again when being attacked and even them converting the girls into a massive hockey puck and using the cars they destroyed as hockey boots.
- The Rowdyruff Boys finally make their return ever since their debut in the season 1 episode of the same name.
- Some funny moments, especially most of the quotes from the Rowdyruff Boys.
- The new designs of the Rowdyruff Boys look cool.
- Some emotional moments as well, such as when Blossom said that the boys won the match in sadness and Buttercup saying that's what they want them to think and they're stupid - insulting the boys.
- The fights between the Powerpuff Girls and the Rowdyruff Boys are also enjoyable along with their attack moves to watch to the point where the Rowdyruffs treat them like real sports matches.
- The girls are still likable characters for trying to fight the boys back and although they showed fear in the middle, they found out that attacking or doing one bad thing makes the boys shrink down, so they keep doing so until they shrink down to miniscule size.
- Good Ending: After the girls shrunk the Rowdyruff Boys down to miniscule sizes thanks to their clever attack patterns, HIM returns with disappointment to the boys, vanishes them but says to the girls that the boys will return again soon and HIM vanishes as well. Then, the narrator says that the "Battle of the Sexes" has begun and says that the day was saved thanks to the Powerpuff Girls.
Bad Qualities
- Lots of gross-out/toilet humor from the Rowdyruff Boys, such as Brick taking a scab from his hand and putting it on a stop sign, Butch spitting a booger from his mouth, Boomer eats it and puts it on the ground, Brick spitting on Blossom and most infamously, Blossom taking off Brick's pants to reveal his butt.
- Goofs:
- One scene when Buttercup speaks, her mouth disappears in one frame.
- During the interview, when Buttercup closes her eyes, her eyelids aren't shown.
Reception
- It holds a rating of 7.2 out of 10 on IMDB.
Trivia
- This is the second and last time The Rowdyruff Boys appear in a 22-minute episode.
- This episode is referenced in Custody Battle.
- This episode might also be the sequel of Power-Noia, due to the abyss scene.
