Plot

Minnie hires an instructor to teach Mickey Mouse some fancy lessons, but things do not end well.

Slobbish Qualities

  1. This is a typical Mickey torture episode as he fails to instruct fancy training by Wadsworth Thorndyke III and fails to impress Minnie by giving her a sandwich.
  2. Wadsworth's training makes Mickey more unfair:
    • When Wadsworth teaches Mickey to say fancy words, the latter says them off-key.
    • Mickey suddenly pokes his eye using his pinky while Wadsworth teaches him to drink tea.
    • He swats Mickey, twice, after thinking that the medium-sized fork is used for salads.
    • He throws Mickey's clothes, causing him to be naked.
  3. Wadsworth slamming the door and causing Donald and Goofy to knock over is over-the-top, despite being justified and Minnie wanting Mickey to become a gentleman.
  4. Mickey calling Minnie, Minifred, contradicts her real name, Minerva. However, it might be a loose reference to Winifred Banks from Mary Poppins, but still.
  5. He calls for a butler just to make the food fancy, but Minnie states that there are no butlers in her house because she is the only landlady here, this proves how blind he is.
  6. Near the end of the episode, what Donald and Goofy do reverts Mickey's old self is to beat him up and have fun using pies, a whoopee cushion, cheese doodles, plunger, and feather dust. And once Mickey is in his old self, they laugh in somewhat gentleman way.

Gentlemanly Qualities

  1. Everyone, especially Mickey, is likable in this episode.
  2. Mickey does have the right to get mad at Minnie for making food that is messy, which fancy people hate.
  3. The concept of transforming someone into becoming fancy is interesting.
  4. Despite the predictable ending, it is nice to see Mickey reverting back to his normal self.

Trivia

  • Mickey Mouse's real name is Michel Mouse.
