Mickey Mouse (now known as The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse) is a American animated comedy television series based off of the Mickey Mouse characters created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. Created by Paul Rudish, the series has a slapstick feel of the old Mickey cartoons while putting it in modern enviroments. Since its release, both shows have seen acclaim from critics and fans.
Why It's A Wonderful World Indeed
- The show matches the tone of the original Mickey Mouse cartoons and can bring in some nostalgia factors here and there including references to the original cartoons.
- Mickey's voice actor in this show Chris Diamantopoulous does an amazing job imitating Walt Disney's Mickey voice.
- The other voice actors of course do a great job as the characters to (Mostly notable Jim Cummings).
- There is a lot of episodes where the characters go to different places in other countries such as Paris, Tokyo, Italy, Brazil, Mumbai, and London, which helps appeal to everybody of different cultures.
- The music of the episodes (composed by Christopher Willis) are really great and a joy to listen to.
- In addition to cameos from other Mickey characters, there are also cameos from Disney movies such as Cinderella, Snow White and her seven dwarves, Luxo Ball, Jafar from Aladdin, and much more. Even Walt Disney makes some cameos.
- Many of the shorts are very well animated including their use of CGI computer animation in some shots such as action/chase scenes.
- Oswald the Lucky Rabbit makes some returns, which is great. Besides, it's nice to see Oswald again after Epic Mickey Two.
- The slapstick in the episodes is so funny that they can get a chuckle out of you or sometimes even make you downright laugh out loud,
- There is a lot of absolutely hilarious lines that appear in this show such as:
- "What happun?"
- "You crammed your soul into a ukulele?!"
- "Oh, mama!"
- "I'm just obsessed with you..."
- "Oh, sorry! I can't hear you, yeah the window is up, see?"
- "It's the same hat!"
- "Oh boy, that Minnie Mouse, she's smoking!"
- "She sure is!"
- "Don't touch my nachos."
- "Is that you, Walt?"
- "He's been blowing his stack at the drop of a hat."
- "Hey! Get black here!"
- "What is wrong with you people?!"
- "WHAAAAATTTT?!?!"
- "Next stop Chinatown everybody, Chinatown, or as they like to call it around these parks...Chinatown."
- "How old is this milk?"
- "A man!"
- "Well look at that smile!"
- "The code..."
- "It all started- with a duck!"
- The writing and dialogue is very self-aware and humorous.
- The closing theme of every episodes is catchy with its great whistling in the background.
- Mickey Mouse, Minnie, Goofy, Daisy, and the rest are very likable and enjoyable characters to watch. The same can't be said for Donald despite the fact that he did redeem himself in Season 6.
- Paul Rudish's designs on the characters look very nice and even looks reminisce of their old 1920s-1930s designs.
- The special that will release this month to conclude the show, Steamboat Silly, looks very entertaining and even features the return of Steamboat Willie Mickey.
- The two specials that also came out of the show are also great.
- There are great episodes from the show including:
- Croissant de Triomphe (which started the series on high note in number code)
- Tokyo Go
- Cheese Wranglers
- Surprise! (an amazing episode for Mickey's 90th birthday)
- Springtime
- Game Night
- Down the Hatch
- Road Hogs
- Supermarket Scramble
- Bad Ear Day
- House of Tomorrow
- Good Sports
- Keep on Rollin'
- New York Weenie
Qualities That Aren't Wonderful
- The episode that started it all (in the packing order), No Service, is not very good. It has Mickey being naked for 2/3 of the episode, has Donald being totally mean-spirited, and if there's a no shirt, no shoes, no service policy, then why couldn't Mickey give Donald his shoes?
- Additionally, Goofy was also unlikable and completely out-of-character throughout "No Service". Thankfully, he becomes to his normal appearance in "Stayin' Cool" onwards.
- Speaking of Donald, in the first five seasons, he can be really mean spirited as well. He throws a temper tantrum over the stupidest reasons and does not listen to Mickey's warnings, sometimes causing him to get into trouble. as mentioned above, he did redeem himself in season 6 and throws less tantrums.
- Most of the episodes aren't that great such as the aformentioned No Service
- No
- Flipperboobootosis
- Dog Show
- Ghoul Friend
- Three-Legged Race
- The Fancy Gentleman
- El Rojo Vivo
- Safari, So Good
- Dumb Luck
- Tapped Out
- Camping.
- Just the Four of Us was the most highly hated episode in the series, due to the fact that Donald and Daisy are being tortured.
- In Season 6, Pluto didn't appear as much.
