Don't you just love endings where it tries to make a character look like a changed man, but end up still being that horrible monster anyways?

The Juice Is Loose! is the ninth episode of the seventh season of Family Guy.
Summary
Peter gets to go on a golf outing with O.J. Simpson after turning in a winning raffle ticket from 1989. When Peter befriends the infamous former running back and brings him home to meet the town of Quahog, they aren't so welcoming to the new houseguest and tell him to take a hike.
Why It's Loose!
- False Advertising: This episode is considered a "lost" episode at the beginning of the episode. Thus, it gets treated like it's a special episode. However, there is nothing special about this at all.
- Half of this episode is straight up filler. Despite being about O.J. Simpson, the episode takes too long to get to him. The family also don't meet O.J. until the third act.
- The first act where Peter and his friends (along with Stewie is stuck on the roof while fixing the satellite TV) is boring as nothing much happens in it.
- Obviously, there is the notorious Conway Twitty cutaway. An entire music video is played with no edits whatsoever or animation.
- To be be fair though, the usage of the music video might be in response to Fox not allowing series creator Seth MacFarlane to air some of the jokes he wanted, so it is kinda excusable in a sense. Even then however, an entire live-action music video is not something you wanna see in an animated series. Not helping is that some later episodes did the same stunt of playing entire live-action music videos without alterations.
- The infamous cutaway involving Peter having murdered a baby by shaking it to death.
- "I thought if I shook him enough he'd stop crying. I was kinda right." - this shows that Peter felt no remorse for the baby he just killed.
- Peter does not get any comeuppance for killing the baby.
- The episode had a chance to portray O.J. Simpson with more character but that never happened thanks to the filler.
- The dish problem is never resolved and is never heard of it again after Peter finds a lost raffle ticket, which makes the dish problem pointless.
- Bad Ending: O.J. Simpson makes a speech to everyone and it tries to make the viewers see him as a changed man, but in the end, he ends up killing three people, showing that he hasn't changed at all is jam-dropping.
Redeeming Qualities
- There are a handful of funny jokes, such as the dumb beaver jokes, the cutaway involving Brian farting himself awake, and the scene where the townsfolk want Homer Simpson out of their town because they "don't love him like they did in 1993."
- The animation is still top-notch, like usual. Though sadly, this is one of the last episodes done in traditional animation as the show would switch to flash animation by season 8.
- While it is filler, the Conway Twitty song is admittedly relaxing to listen to.
Reception
The episode was given a 6.3/10 on IMDb,[1] and a low score of 4.7/10 on TV.com.[citation needed]
