"The New Black" is the 10th episode and season finale of the 4th season of The Boondocks. It aired on June 23, 2014.

"The New Black"
"The new way NOT to end a TV show."
Series: The Boondocks
Part of Season: 4
Episode Number: 10
Air Date: June 23, 2014
Writer: Rodney Barnes
Director: Dae Woo Lee
Previous episode: "Stinkmeaner: Begun the Clone War Has"

Why It Isn't the New Black

  1. This episode clearly displays how bad Season 4 of the series was.
  2. Riley Freeman is targeted after using a homophobic slur (the word "gay") at a kid dancing, with a very less funny and serious attitude, unlike the previous episode.
  3. Robert and Rollo Goodlove tell the protesters that Riley uses "gay" against something he doesn't like because he has special needs.
  4. This is the second time Riley Freeman has been on the media for school issues.
  5. During the conversation scene they say gay over & over again.
  6. Unnecessary jokes about the mentally challenged, where they compare using “retarded” to using the word “gay.” Expect that the message is rather muddled and thereby lost.
  7. This killed (animated part of) the franchise for 6 years until HBO Max announced a reboot for 2 seasons, only for them to cancel it due to the death of John Witherspoon and Regina King stressing over the loss of her son.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Picture of Riley Freeman running in the track to win is pretty hilarious
  2. Good ending theme song with end credits.
  3. Great animation and voice acting like always.
