The Ren & Stimpy Show: Fire Dogs is a video game based on an episode of The Ren and Stimpy Show.

Plot

Based on the episode Fire Dogs, Ren and Stimpy get jobs as firefighters.

Gameplay

You play as Stimpy who needs to locate firefighter equipment. After that, Ren and Stimpy must use a life net to rescue items from a burning building. This repeats for five workdays until players beat the game.

Why It's An EEDIOT!!!

  1. The firefighters can injure Stimpy with only one hit.
  2. The Dalmatian paint and fire extinguishers change locations with each game, requiring luck to find them. The fire equipment though is in fixed locations.
  3. The fire extinguisher is pointless, this weapon is just stun the firefighter, but only brief moments to get through.
  4. There is a time limit in the game that gives you very little time to find everything.
  5. Once you're painted like a Dalmatian, the firefighters won't harm you. However, this paint will be gone if you're hit with the sprinklers, so it's important to wait for the sprinklers to stop. This, combined with the time limit, makes things very difficult.
  6. The stairs are very difficult to get down, due to poor control.
  7. While this doesn't reflect the overall quality of the game, at the time, the game can only be rented and not bought, being not only a consumer unfriendly business strategy especially for fans of the show, but also making the game very hard to find nowadays.
  8. Once you get to the next stage, Ren and Stimpy use a life net to catch stuff falling out of a burning building. You must get a passing score to advance or the game is over, which is very difficult as most of the items come down quick and rapidly. but watch out, if there heavy items or animals, it's an instant death.
  9. For some weird reasons, you can't play as Ren, only Stimpy.
  10. Poor controls that are really unresponsive and clunky to deal with, in fact they are even worse than the other Ren & Stimpy games on SNES, with the exception of Time Warp (which was even worst than this game).
  11. For some weird reasons, this game doesn't even had the famous theme song of the show, despite the other three games on SNES having it, hence making the only game of the franchise to not had the theme song of the show.
  12. Speaking of that, the music of the game is repetitive and a bit bland, not to mention that some of the musics are incredibly familiar, such as the game over music where it sound like it came from Adventure of Sonic the Hedgehog.
  13. The game over scene is really mean-spirited and a bit disturbing, since the firefighter shock both Ren and Stimpy and they do extremely disturbing face such as Stimpy looking like he smile but in a bad way, or Ren that look like he is going to die.
  14. As the game repeats for five workdays before you can beat the game, you're exposed to the same two levels, making the game boring with little to no change in gameplay.

The Only Redeeming Quality

  1. The animation and graphics are really decent, and feel just like watching the show.
