The Seapreme Court (episode 80)
For a very "cute" show, this episode certainly was a total whiplash.

The Seapreme Court is a 1954 Little Audrey (Noveltoons) cartoon directed by Seymour Kneitel. This cartoon is widely considered to be one of only two worst Little Audrey cartoons ever made, along with "Hold the Lion Please".

Why It Sucks

  1. It is a massive Audrey torture cartoon.
  2. It badly insulted ABC's beloved children's radio drama series, Land of the Lost.
  3. The fishes are extremely unlikable, as they think the fishers (especially Audrey) are real killers.
  4. It's also very exaggeratedly cruel, mean-spirited, and unfunny. Even the slapstick had become very violent and not very funny to the point of being comparable to that of Herman and Katnip and the Gene Deitch era of Tom and Jerry.
  5. The infamous gag of the electric-eel chair.
  6. It doesn't have any funny moments, which is unacceptable because Little Audrey is supposed to be a comedy franchise.
  7. Countless and pointless plot holes.
  8. The story is badly written, as it is set in a very dark tone.
    • The story in this short could work for any other shows like in any one-shot cartoons or even the Gene Deitch era of Tom and Jerry, considering that those shorts are meant to have a darker tone in it, but having this kind of story in this short is out of place since Little Audrey shorts are meant to have a light hearted tone in the first place.
  9. Some scenes, with Little Audrey almost being eaten alive by a clam, aren't fun to watch.
  10. The title card stole the element of the screen adaption of ABC's Land of the Lost radio series.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. The animation, backgrounds, voice acting, and music composition are overall decent for the mid-1950s standards.
  2. Turns out, the ending is okay since nothing bad happens to Audrey when she woke up.
  3. Audrey is the only cute and likable character here since she doesn't really do anything and just wanted to go fishing peacefully.
