The Venture Bros. is an American adult animated action-comedy television series that was created by Christopher McCulloch (also known as "Jackson Publick") and premiered on Cartoon Network's late-night programming block Adult Swim with a pilot episode on February 16, 2003, and its first season beginning on August 7, 2004. It is considered to be an action/adventure series with comedy-drama elements. It has been renewed for a seventh and eighth season to consist of ten episodes each and a 2023 direct-to-DVD film that serves as a conclusion to the series.

In 2018, it was canceled after 7 seasons.

Why It's Team Venture

  1. Awesome and memorable theme song.
  2. Great animation, especially for a show that aired on Adult Swim, which normally had shows with low-budget flash animation at the time, all thanks to Titmouse (seasons 5-7) and Digital eMation.
  3. It's one of the rarest parody TV shows you see on TV.
  4. Great and awesome action scenes.
  5. It has clever comedy and pop culture references, even referencing some obscure heroes, like Green Hornet. And some Hanna Barbera cartoons like Jonny Quest and Scooby-Doo.
  6. Great voice acting, like with Patrick Warburton as Brock Samson, and Stephen Rattazzi as Dr. Orpheus.
  7. Likable and relatable characters, like Rusty Venture, his sons, Hank and Dean, the Monarch, Dr. Girlfriend/Dr. Mrs. the Monarch, Henchman 21 & 24, Dr. Orpheus, Brock Samson, among others.
  8. The 1-hour specials are always a huge blast.
  9. Lots of continuity and character development (which is rare for most Adult Swim shows).
  10. Many emotional moments, like the death of 24 and 21 becoming emotionally devastated by it.
  11. The series had an amazing straight to DVD movie that was a fantastic way to conclude the series.

Bad Qualities

  1. The opening is cut short in later seasons, with some exceptions.
  2. The show has been on extremely long hiatuses.
  3. While season 1 is still good and there are some great episodes (such as "Eeney Meeney", "Miney Nagic", "Ghosts of Sargasso", "Tag-Sale You're It!" and the finale of the season, "Return to Spider-Skull Island") it's mostly hit or miss with the pacing feeling a bit slow and not as good as seasons 2-7.
  4. Rusty can be unlikable sometimes.
  5. The title of the show can confuse new audiences. Despite the title, intro, and posters promoting Hank and Dean as the main characters, the show focuses on Rusty, with Hank and Dean given little focus.
  6. Despite having been renewed for an eighth season, the show was unexpectedly canceled after season seven and ended the show on a cliffhanger. It wasn't until the 2023 direct to DVD film is when it was finally resolved.
