Plot

Wander and Sylvia enter a void that can perform anything, but they want to go out of the void to escape.

Why It's a Void That Takes Your Step

  1. The concept of characters entering a void that can create or innovate anything by commenting is interesting.
  2. At first, this episode is just a generic plot focusing on Wander and Sylvia playing in the void using their imaginations, but later on, Sylvia wants to escape in the void so that the premise is changed to something different.
  3. Decent attempts of humor, especially the imaginary objects used by Wander and Sylvia.
    • The scene where Sylvia attempts to open the door, but only random things are seen, such as the real-life Jack McBrayer and the Two Man Gentlemen Band, Lord Hater getting embarrassed in the shower, and the Thanks for Watching letter from Craig McCracken.
  4. The music, Take Your Step Inside Your Mind, is catchy.
    • The clones of Wander also appear and they play the song very well.
  5. Good Ending: After Sylvia lashes out on the song Wander sang, she wants to go out into the void but Wander somewhat neglects Sylvia because of hanging out with his clones. Later on, Wander reunites with Sylvia and becomes friends, which causes a doorknob to suddenly appear and leave the void.
    • There is a twist where Wander and Sylvia attempt to go to the void by entering the window, but they refuse and decide to leave.
  6. "I just want to sell you some insurance!"

A-Void-ed Qualities

  1. This is a Sylvia torture episode as she wants to escape into the void so that she can free herself.
  2. The scene where Wander and Sylvia falsely escape the void, which is revealed to be a conveyor belt with a scrolling space background, by entering the wooden door only pads out the episode.

Trivia

  • If you hear closely in the void, the gramophone or jukebox sounds are heard in background music.
  • The end credits theme of Wander Over Yonder is heard during the scene where Wander apologizes to Sylvia.
  • This episode is a love letter to Looney Tunes episode, Duck Amuck, where Daffy enters a white void beyond the background art.
  • This episode is one of the cheapest animatics to ever date, with it showing a white void until Lord Hater and Peepers open the door.
