Toei Animation is a Japanese animation studio that was founded in 1948, and is one of the most current animation studios in Japan.
It has produced numerous series, including Sally the Witch, GeGeGe no Kitarō, Mazinger Z, Galaxy Express 999, Cutie Honey, Dr. Slump, Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, Sailor Moon, Slam Dunk, Digimon, One Piece, Toriko, World Trigger, The Transformers (between 1984 and 1990, including several Japanese exclusive productions), and the Pretty Cure series.
Why It's a King of Anime
- It is best known for its production of animes like Little Miss Akane, Mazinger Z, Majokko, Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, Slam Dunk, Digimon, One Piece, Ojamajo Doremi, Saint Seiya, Tiger Mask, Sailor Moon Crystal, Spooky Kitaro series, and the Pretty Cure series.
- It's also best known in particular for working on animation of Western animated shows like G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, Police Academy: The Animated Series, Freakazoid!, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (season 1), Dungeons & Dragons, Defenders of the Earth, Spider-Man, Iznogoud and early cartoons created by Disney, Hanna-Barbera, Sunbow and DiC Entertainment, as well in Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir.
- They do an excellent job with their animation, for it's inspired many animation studios.
- In a favor of the success of Don Bluth's arcade game, Dragon's Lair, it created five laserdisc arcade games, Cobra Command, Ninja Hayate, Freedom Fighter , Road Avenger and Time Gal.
- They have also worked on the animation of some western animated movies as well, like G.I. Joe: The Movie.
- They put in excellent music for the anime they create.
- Their mascot Pero from the film The Wonderful World of Puss n' Boots is very cute.
- They even put full episodes of their shows on their official YouTube channel for free, albeit dubbed and region restrictions.
Bad Qualities
- They have made some bad/average anime series like Dragon Ball GT, Digimon Frontier, Powerpuff Girls Z and the Netflix reboot of Saint Seiya.
- The Glitter Force series is the most unfaithful, but disgraceful grasp to the original Japanese version of the Pretty Cure 2012 series, and for all the right reasons why the American English dub is no better thanks to you know who gets the blame.
- Many of their shows have episodes that are plagued with stilted and off-model animation.
- They infamously striked 150 copyright claims against a YouTuber by the name Totally Not Mark for showing an edited a footage of Dragon Ball and despite the fact that ironically ALL of the Dragon Ball movies were still on YouTube and refuse to strike them down.
- While it did upload full episode, they restrictions to the Japan viewers, but some of them, they available for worldwide viewers.
