Too Many Cooks is the 12th infomercial in Adult Swim. It was a viral video on internet platforms as it repeated each night at midnight Eastern Time during the week of November 11, 2014.

Why It's "TOO MANY COOKS" (In a Good Way)

  1. This infomercial is famous for the music, despite being annoying at best, and the song changes when other media activates.
  2. There are TONS of casts appearing in this show, with lots of them being tolerable and relatable at best (excluding the slasher, who is the only unlikable character to appear, although that might be intentional).
  3. There is a nice touch when the theme of the show changes, which makes the pace look good.
  4. Smarf is a spoof of ALF and Snarf from the Thundercats, and he is a well-written comic relief character.
    • Both the coat and the pie are also comic relief characters.
  5. There are lots of shout-outs throughout this special:
    • The opening scene is based on Full House (especially the show's title), Family Ties, Family Matters, Growing Pains, etc.
    • The kitchen and the living room places resemble those from Married with... Children.
    • The family sitting around the table sequence with the camera panning is a spoof of the Roseanne theme song.
    • The cop sequence is a reference to T.J. Hooker.
    • After the shot of the pie, the animated sequence is a reference to G.I. Joe.
    • The melodrama scene, including the shot of the White House, is a reference to Falcon Crest, Dynasty, and Dallas.
    • Two people dressing up as superheroes reference Wonder Woman and Green Lantern respectively.
    • Once the killer eats dead people, Smarf kills him using heat vision, but the latter explodes, revealing his robotic armor, which is a reference to the Terminator.
    • The sci-fi segment and the clone army scene resemble Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek.
    • The "Intro-nitis" scene and the characters mixing genres are references to Seinfeld.
    • When Smarf presses the button, everyone recovers in the blue background that resembles The Brady Bunch Show.
    • The ending starts off with music similar to that of The Brak Show (another show made by Adult Swim ).
  6. Funny Ending: Despite being short and ending in a cliffhanger, Darren Cook arrives in the house, with everyone inside, and says "Honey, I'm ho-".

Bad Qualities

  1. While the music is good, it can get annoying at times.
  2. The killer (Bill) is the only unlikable character to appear in this special as he is mean-spirited to innocent people, including the character who is portrayed by Katie Adkins, by slashing everyone to death (though intentionally considering that this special are callback to the 80s and the slasher film subgenre was getting started during the 1980s).
  3. The "Intro-nitis" and the scene involving characters mixing their genres, especially the letters imitating characters, while characters lie down and scream, are disturbing.
