Unfiltered is a game show/teen sitcom that has run on Nickelodeon since July 11, 2020, and ended on November 11, 2021

Plot

Jay Pharoah hosts a game show called Unfiltered with three players, Darci, Gabrielle, and Lex participate in and ask questions to guest stars behind face filters to try and guess their names.

Why It Should Be Blacklisted

  1. It is a shameful rip-off of an already bad reality show The Masked Singer as a kids' version, but instead of celebrities in costumes, they are covered up with Snapchat-like filters which is cringe-worthy.
  2. Just like other Nickelodeon shows from the 2020s, it tries way too hard to be hip, modern, and appeal to kids which mostly comes out as cringe-worthy. Out of all the "Nickcoms", this one tries the most to be hip. Just to list a few examples:
    • There are many pop culture and meme references, a majority of which are outdated. There are so many that it could be easier to count how long the show can go without referring.
    • Lex says things like "Boi" and "Yo" in every sentence she makes.
    • In one episode Jay Pharoah says "Abraca-dab-ra", and dabs right after.
    • In another episode, there was a graphic that said, "2020 is cancelled".
  3. The rapid-fire round is pretty much pointless, as the timer ends at 60 seconds when in reality, it ends after 30 seconds.
  4. Some episodes have unnecessary filler to get the show over the 22-minute mark.
  5. Weird effects that look like something out of a YouTube Poop. The difference is that a YTP is intentionally bad but this is unacceptable on mainstream TV.
  6. Not to mention, the face filters are weird as well.
  7. The voice changer is terrible. Even more baffling is that some of the celebrities featured on the show are voice actors themselves.
  8. Tons of gross-out humor, as if a player doesn’t guess the celebrity correctly, they have to eat something “gross” like a blended Taco or something spicy.
  9. The “celebrities” feel like whoever Nickelodeon could get. On top of that, some celebrities they’ve used reappear in some episodes and even Lincoln Loud himself appeared in the episode "Bunny Money" and he isn't even a celebrity.

The Only Redeeming Quality

  1. Jay Pharoah did a great job as the host.

Reception

This show was poorly received, getting a 4.7 on IMDb and a 3.1 on Google.

Trivia

  • It was initially titled Game Face when it was announced on May 6, 2020, along with Group Chat. However, on June 26, 2020, it was renamed last-minute to Unfiltered.
