Doodlebops Rockin' Road Show is a Canadian children's animated series. It's an animated spin-off of The Doodlebops, and features the voices of Lisa Lennox, Chad McNamara, and Jonathan Wexler. The show only lasted one season of 26 episodes before being cancelled on December 11th, 2010.

Plot

This animated series follows the Doodlebops and their bus driver, Bus Driver Bob. Every episode features a segment called Doodle for the Day, where the Doodlebops receive a DVD from a kid, and after they open it, they listen to it. They turn the kid into an animated version of themself via a multicolored tornado. Afterwards, the Doodlebops and the Doodle of the Day go on various adventures.

Bad Qualities

  1. For starters, the art style of this show is too simplistic and cheap, even by children's cartoons' standards. It suffers from overly bright colors, though this is justifiable because it is a show aimed at young children. Some of the backgrounds in various episodes of the series look like they were stolen from Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!.
  2. While most of the character designs are decent, the humans' designs look like The Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama, American Dad!, The Cleveland Show, Bob's Burgers, The Loud House and Duncanville rejects. A few of the characters also look like rejects from Bob Boyle's Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!.
  3. The flash animation is mediocre, stiff and lazy looking. In fact, it's pretty much reminiscent of the flash animation from Scaredy Squirrel (especially the earlier episodes), Almost Naked Animals, and Numb Chucks. Considering the fact that Mercury Filmworks usually provides high quality animation for various shows, they did a poor job providing the animation for this show.
  4. Aside from the Doodlebops and Bus Driver Bob, none of the other characters from the original series, such as Jazzmine and Moosehead, are present in this show.
  5. The theme song, while catchy, appears to be inconsistent depending on the episode. Sometimes, it may be altered to have a part of the song changed to reflect the theme of the episode, and its length can vary as well.
  6. The new characters introduced in the show, such as Bop, the Doodlebops' pet poodle, and Mail Snail are bland and barely have any personality.
  7. It's most likely a franchise killer for the Doodlebops franchise, which means, since the show's cancellation, there have been no new attempts at making a Doodlebops since and that WildBrain basically ignores the franchise.

Good Qualities

  1. Decent voice acting.
  2. The actors of the Doodlebops and Bus Driver Bob reprise their roles in this show.
  3. The theme song as well as the musical numbers are pretty good.
  4. Despite BQ#2, most of the character designs are decent.

Reception

Doodlebops Rockin' Road Show currently holds a 6.8/10 on IMDb.
