Numb Chucks is a Canadian animated television series that was created by Phil LaFrance and Jamie LeClaire, and premiered on YTV in Canada on January 7, 2014. The series is produced by Jam Filled Entertainment and 9 Story Media Group, in association with YTV, and was produced with the participation of The Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit, The Canada Media Fund, Ontario Film and Television Tax Credit, Ontario Computer Animation and Special Effects Tax Credit and with the financial participation of The Shaw Rocket Fund.

The show was canceled, and aired its last episode on December 1, 2016.

Premise

The show follows Dilweed and Fungus, two woodchucks with big hearts who are obsessed with using their bungling kung-fu skills to protect the lives of the citizens in their town of Ding-a-Ling Springs.

Why It Should Go Numb

1. Lazy and below-average voice acting that sound like they aren't trying, as they are either too quiet or scream too loudly.
2. Dilweed and Fungus hardly look like woodchucks, and look more like beavers with no flat tails.
3. Very lazy and unoriginal names for many of the characters, such as Dilweed, Fungus, Quills, Butternut, and Hooves.
4. Speaking of lazy and unoriginal names, the name of the show's main setting, Ding-a-Ling Springs, is utterly laughable and stupid.
5. Much like Mega Babies, Dilweed and Fungus’s kung-fu skills are meant to rescue people. However, in some episodes, their kung-fu skills sometimes cause chaos.
6. Tons of gross-out and toilet humor.
   • On that topic, Dilweed and Fungus are shown twerking in some episodes.
   • In the episode "Adventures in Bufordsitting", Buford, an adult, was wearing diapers.
7. Almost all of the characters are very annoying and unlikable.
   • Dilweed and Fungus are a pair of brainless jerks who cause destruction everywhere they go. They are never punished for their actions, as well.
   • Grandma Butternut is a horrible parent, and abuses Buford, as well as never seeming bothered when the Chucks destroy the town.
8. The animation, while smooth and very bouncy for an action show, does not go beyond average. In fact, it can easily be compared to Scaredy Squirrel’s animation, but at least better than Rocket Monkeys' animation.
9. Cheesy and below-average-looking character designs. It gets to the point that some of them look like they were stolen from Almost Naked Animals, another show created by 9 Story Media Group. Dilweed and Fungus' designs look awfully similar to Norbert and Daggett from The Angry Beavers.
   • Woodchuck Morris, especially, looks like a Rambo reject.
10. It has many bad or horrible episodes, such as:
    • "Chuck Be a Lady" (which started the show on a sour note)
    • "Beaver Feaver"
    • "Spit-Uation Critical"
    • "Chucky See, Chucky Do"
    • "Enter the Sheep"
    • "Artificial Dumbness"
    • "Orange Is The New Black Belt" (which is the worst episode of the show)
    • "Who Put The Ding in Ding-A-Ling Springs"
11. Most of the episodes, but not all episodes, in the second season felt like a reversed version of The Day My Butt Went Psycho!, in which the same executive story editor Mark Steinberg and the same major writers from that show were involved in the second season in the show, and thus making the plots not only uncreative but also nonsensical too.
    • It also reverses the elements and objects from the said show as well. One example is the first episode "Age of Ignorant", where writer, Andrew Harrison reverses the idea of "Bubble Butt" where Zack Freeman was allergic to chocolate to Fungus being allergic to jelly from those jelly-filled doughnuts that Dilweed brought, and the plot where Deuce being inside the bubble, because Zack was allergic to him, even though it wasn't true to where Fungus becoming the older brother, instead of Dilweed, even though they were just burrito wrappers.

Redeeming Qualities

1. Quills, Hooves, and Buford are the only decent characters in this show. Hooves and Buford, especially, because they get tortured in some episodes; however, Buford mostly deserved it.
2. The background art looks very nice.
3. Awesome music and soundtrack. Even in the theme song and end credits.
4. The final episode, “Get Him to Ding-a-Ling Springs” was decent, because Woodchuck Morris gave Buford back his spit.
5. There were two decent episodes, those being the aforementioned finale and "Evacuation Situation."

Reception

Numb Chucks received negative reviews from viewers and currently holds a 4.5/10 rating on IMDb.

Trivia

• The second season had never even aired in the United States, even though it is available to watch on Tubi TV in said country, and only airs the second season on YTV in Canada.
