RAGE is a first-person shooter video game developed by id Software and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is set in a post-apocalyptic near future, following the impact of the asteroid 99942 Apophis on Earth. Players take control of Nicholas Raine, a soldier put into hibernation in an underground shelter who emerges into the wasteland a century later, and finds himself a wanted man by an oppressive organization known as The Authority. The game has been described as similar to the movie Mad Max 2, and video games such as Duke Nukem, Fallout and Borderlands.

Why It's Anything But Rageful

  1. Great graphics for 2011 standards.
  2. Astonishing enemy AI.
  3. Fluid animation.
  4. Amazing combat.
  5. Entertaining side-missions like racing, collecting, and attacking bandits with vehicle.
  6. This game introduces the Defibrillator mechanic; when the player is killed by the enemy, he has to defibrillate in order to revive and electrocute the enemy.
  7. Good multiplayer mode.
  8. Cool soundtrack.

Rageful Qualities

  1. The story is incomprehensible and uninteresting.
  2. While likable, the characters are undeveloped and not very memorable.

Reception

Rage received mainly positive reviews from both critics and players alike, with reviewers praising the game's combat mechanics, gameplay and graphics while criticizing the lack of story, characters, and direction. A sequel, Rage 2, was released on May 14, 2019.
